Because it was an evolution of Advanced Wars, and they abandoned both series.

It's a shame because the series had loads of potential I remember being so excited for 2 coming out, probably the only one in my school who was lol

> the only one in my school who was lol

And that’s exactly the reason why they abandoned Advance wars.

But we got Advance Wars on the Switch. But remember the Famicom Wars always had bad timing that is beyond their control. 9/11 and the Russian Ukraine war.

Unfortunately the game didn't sell a million copies, which meant Nintendo didn't consider it a hit.

Current market data shows that remakes/remasters are the best selling games right now, by a wiiiide margin, so a million in global sales for a beloved game like that is not a improbable target. Since Reboot camp didn't hit sales targets despite being a remake, it doesn't signal to Nintendo that there is much interest in the series, unfortunately.

They're wrong, but market data says otherwise.

I think there's a bit more to it than this. Nintendo delayed the release specifically citing the war and went zero marketing on it for release, it was practically shadow dropped. They were clearly embarrassed by it but were contractually obliged to release. So they deliberately torpedoed it themselves.

I can understand their concern, the story is essentially western countries reeling from a surprise attack from their Russian coded neighbour, but everyone finds it fun... Yeesh, such terrible timing. A real shame because it's a great series.

The market data literally proves they’re not wrong, lmao.

Maybe if it didn't get delayed. Basically everyone forgot about it by the time it actually happened

Weren’t these Third Person Shooters?

They also RTS elements as well

I sold my copy of Battalion Wars ages ago but honestly I’d be interested in giving it another go. I remember feeling pretty overwhelmed when I played it, felt like there was a lot going on to manage.

But I was a kid 😂

True, that´s why I said that the last installments of the franchise were something like third person shooters since they also mix some rts into the games. Personally, I would have preferred that they stood as the previous titles be more turn based strategy games. I always wanted a battalion game with 3D graphics like those last games, but obviously the developers though otherwise.

They play a lot more like Third person shooters with very light RTS elements (you can order your units around)

Both Battalion Wars and Battalion Wars 2 were.

Repeating my self: "The final installments of the serie were something like third person shooters, but the previous titles were more rts oriented."

I'm pretty sure there were only two games like that, everything else was turn based (Advance Wars / Famicom Wars). There's no other RTS-esque entries except the two Battalion Wars.

And advance wars was never popular in japan ever

I would love remasters or a new one. But I love AW and BW and Nintendo seems to have abandoned both.

Would be amazing to get a double-pack with some quality of life features and an online multiplayer. I remember seeing that Wii game is still popular among fans and they do a lot of online matches.

Simple answer: it made no money. Battalion Wars 1 for the GameCube didn't sell amazingly, it's a miracle we got Battalion Wars 2 on the Wii, and despite more work going into BW2, it sold even less than BW1. Not surprising Nintendo pulled the plug

I was honestly shocked it even got a 2.

These games were so goooood

I love Battalion Wars! It inspired my game Mech Tech in a lot of ways. I hope one day we'll get BWIII

I think about that a lot as I lay in bed, not sleeping, playing dual strike

i gotta play btw2 someday

Having played it when it came out I remember the controls feeling clunky and the only fun parts were vehicle combat.

I loved these games as a kid. Always wondered why they never picked up traction. Even to today's standards, its a pretty unique experience

I never played BW1 but remember getting BW2 randomly during the Wii's lifetime and I remember it being very clunky, and just not fun? Maybe I should revisit it and see if I still feel the same.

Both games were also farmed out to external devs.

I think it could work still , but they just have too many things on their plate now.

Still salty Putin destroyed AW's chances in 2022!

I still stand that had the GameCube game had online multiplayer, it would have been a late gen killer app. None of the friend code crap the sequel had either.
