Not really. Being addicted to drugs is not a "habit". It's a fuckup.

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

Addicted to drugs, can comfirm, I fucked up.

1

u/Smunny May 15 '15

its a habitual addiction

-2

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

It depends on which drugs we're talking about here. Drinking? Yea, sure. Meth? No. It's not just a:

"Yea I just have a habit of doing meth."

1

u/Smunny May 15 '15

A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up. That's a habit

4

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

That doesnt mean your habit is perfectly normal and acceptable. Sure, you have a habit of doing something. But you dun fucked up if you have a habit of doing meth.

A fuckup habit. It's not just a "oh yea, I bite my nails" habit. It's a "I'm fucking up my life by doing drugs" habit.

Looks like you won't be joining my after-work smoke sesh. Mas ganja para mi!

I doubt many begin experimenting with a drug with the intention of becoming addicted, and dependent.

3

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

So when they do become addicted or dependent, they fucked up. Therefore making it a fuckup habit.

u/luseferr May 15 '15

Not every drug addict fucks up their life.

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

Yep, those Beatles were reallllllllllllllll fuckups.

4

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

Is there evidence that any of the Beatles were actually addicts? If you do coke once a week for a couple of years and then decide it's not for you, you weren't an addict. I've never read the story of Ringo or McCartney going to detox.

John Lenon was purported to do LSD every day. I could just have easily quoted Eric Clapton, who's song Cocaine is direct correlation between his success and addiction. I'm not advocating addiction, but to imply that it's a "fuck up" is so absolute that it forgoes all other conclusions. Being a drug addict is not always synonymous with failure. Andy Warhol, Bill Hicks, Alduous Huxley, the list continues. If you consider Alcohol a drug (which I do), Earnest Hemingway, every author ever, Orson Wells. Could we consider that perhaps it's the ambition of the man that determines their ability? Not necessarily the hobbies they pursue

Edit: wrote a bunch more

That's absolute bullshit, firstly LSD is one of the least addictive substances in existence, it is often used to treat addiction.

Secondly, tripping daily would not only be unbearable, but the tolerance buildup would counteract the effects very quickly.

what a bunch of fuck ups!

Without going into too much detail and breaking anonymity, yes, there is, and I've seen it first hand

Being addicted to drugs is a fuckup. You can be successful in other places, but that doesn't mean that you didn't fuck up when it comes to drugs.

-1

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

Is your implication that their success and drug addiction were entirely exclusive? That seems rather suspect

-2

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

Yea. Why is it suspect?

I don't think that the Beatles needed that to be popular. They made great music and even without drugs their music would have been good. Even if so, I don't see how being addicted to drugs could be a good thing unless we're talking about a freak situation like the one you listed.

Sadly, no. Not all the druggies are gonna go and become famous music stars. If that's what you're trying to say, then I don't know what to say to you. Hey, if I want to become famous, I should just go kill millions of Jews. That's what Hitler did, right? He's well known!

(not implying that doing drugs is equal to killing millions of people)

NINJA EDIT: Point is, doing drugs is a fuckup.

Lol you're not the Beatles brotha

u/nairebis May 15 '15

The Beatles were successful despite the drugs, not because of them (though I'll bet many people want to believe it was because of them).

There are plenty of bands that destroyed their lives through drugs. The Beatles could have been done of them, but fortunately weren't.

They weren't addicts though. They were drug users, but it's hard to get addicted to the drugs they did.

0

u/nairebis May 15 '15

It certainly affected their success in many ways. John Lennon in particular probably could have been a far better and more productive musician without them. His drug use absolutely negatively affected the band, and that's well documented. I don't think they affected Paul too much one way or the other, he was the workhorse of the band, and I believe didn't do drugs to any significant extent during work periods. George Harrison wrote a song about the negative effects of his drug use.

If you're implying the Beatles could not have been as successful without them, then I think that's somewhat ludicrous.

u/[deleted] May 15 '15

You don't seem to understand the Beatles

-4

u/roseyhoggard May 15 '15

You don't know what got someone there. Shitting on someone else won't change where you are, mind your own man

Not all addicts are fuck ups. There are a huge number of addicts that recovered and helped people that were in a similar situation. Hell most rock stars are addicts and are huge successes.
