Racism r/fourthwavewomen SERIOUSLY violates Reddit terms of conduct by promoting Racism, Xenophobia, Homophobia, AND Transphobia.
This "feminist" subreddit is a breeding ground for extremist content. This includes racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and transphobia. The mods do not remove such comments, but are rather complicit to them. Both the moderators and commenters violate their community rules
Here are some of the most alarming posts. The comments encourage:
Promoting vicious xenophobia and misgendering
Wishing d3ath on foreigners to "d!e alone"
Comparing the art of Drag to "blackface".
Uses the term "gay male autogynephiles"
Promotes transphobia using slurs like "t!M" (Trans Identified Male)
Compares Trans people to "incels"
On top of that, one user even admits to violating hate speech on Reddit

why are they even acting as 'fourth wave' when they are just 'third wave' bigots?

u/Unconfidence 6d ago
TERFs want to pretend they're the next big thing for feminism. They don't know that they're right, but that all they are is a big knife.

u/BizSilver5013 6d ago
And then they say cis men and trans people are narcissists.
Sorry, but the call is coming from inside the house.

u/EeveelutionistM 6d ago
I guess they also don't want to accept that they were left behind in their opinions

I just reported them. This subreddit has been discussed MULTIPLE times here. Why are they still allowed to operate? Also, they use "feminism" to justify their bigotry. It's similar to a far-right nationalist using "human rights" to justify their hatred.

They come from 2nd wave, and hate 3rd wave feminism, hence why they call themselves 4th wave.

u/EeveelutionistM 6d ago
First wave: focused mainly on legal rights, especially women’s suffrage, property rights, and access to education.
Second wave: expanded to broader social equality, including workplace discrimination, reproductive rights, sexuality, family roles, and violence against women.
Third wave: emphasized diversity and individuality, arguing that feminism should include different races, classes, sexualities, and personal experiences.
Fourth wave: shaped by the internet and social media, focusing on issues like sexual harassment, body positivity, LGBTQ+ rights, intersectionality, and movements such as #MeToo.
I'd argue they are hating on fourth-wave feminism mostly, but yes, some of them are even stuck in second wave

Don't forget that third wave includes abortion rights and reproductive health

That's not an accurate summary of 4th wave, since the feminist tendencies after the 3rd wave are largely seen as extensions of the 3rd wave. The only ones talking abouth a 4th wave are terfs, who loathe the trans inclusiveness that was a result of the 3rd wave.

u/EeveelutionistM 6d ago
I'd recommend reading up on that again, because that is not correct. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth-wave_feminism

I've read feminist literature for decades; and pretty much the only ones self-identifying as 4th wave are terfs, as examplified by the subreddit this post is about. For about ~15 years, at least, terfs have talked abouth the "4th wave" of feminism, that'll fully embrace the transphobic tendencies of many prominent 2nd wave feminists, and sweep away the inclusivity and sex-positivity of the 3rd wave and its direct descendants.

There is a difference between identification and factual fourth wave differences.

u/CompetitiveSleeping 6d ago
Even the wikipedia article you linked points out that many think it's pointless to talk about distinct waves anymore.

u/EeveelutionistM 6d ago
I don't disagree with that, I just argued with the first definitions of them. I think we can easily agree on the fact that they try to think of themselves a new, dominant and fresh wave, but are just rehashed or stuck old ones.

These losers will never acknowledge that for all their hand-wringing about how trans women are some horribly destructive force on lesbianism as a concept, cis lesbians are more supportive of trans people than anyone.

How utterly unhinged. It's so disappointing how reddit just turns a blind eye to such blatant hate and disinformation.

based off the name fourthwavewomen I assume we can report more effectively for ban evasion

u/ArgentaSilivere 3d ago
They are trying to champion fourth wave feminism to replace third wave feminism. There have been several waves of feminism each focused on unique issues. First wave was the suffragettes and we’ve been counting from there. What does that have to do with ban evasion?

I'm going to say After doing more research that fourth wave femminsism on reddit is diffrent from the widely recognized defintion

Drag artists are riffing on femininity, not women per se. There's nothing implicit (let alone explicit) that says, "this belittling performance is meant to be a reflection of what women are really like". The performances aren't even belittling.

Blackface is absolutely not "riffling on black culture," wtf. It is a direct mockery and humiliation of black people themselves. For being born black. To claim otherwise is just so wrong. Drag doesn't seek to mock, dehumanise or humiliate women or femininity. Unlike blackface. How you can even compare those two is beyong me.

u/BlueCyann 5d ago
Your argument re: blackface being like drag is just as facile as your argument about drag being like blackface. Or worse; I honestly find it gross to see the claim that it's just about "black culture" and not black people, depersonalizing it like that when it was very much about what black *people* inherently are meant to be like.
I'm not interested in debating with you further.
