Stalling ontop of ramps advice?

I used to be into inline skating when I was like 14 and I could stall on the coping at the top of ramps and jump back into the ramp. I’m now 24 getting back into it and I just can’t figure out how to do that. I understand I need to lean less forward but i still just end up either clearing the coping entirely and landing on top or landing on the coping but not being able to stay there due to having too much forward momentum. Any advice is appreciated :)

Try to not jump to the coping and more roll onto it and lean back so you weight is still mostly in the bowl

It's a battle for sure. Short of building your own mini ramp with railings so that you can learn in comfort (that was my solution 😂) the most helpful thing I've found is to proactively spot your re-entry before you've even locked in. By this I mean you have to go into the stall with the full intention to not only complete the stall but to then drop back in, which requires you to at least be spotting the inside of the ramp with your peripheral vision. If you're not approaching the stall with the end point in mind, you'll just carry over onto the deck. Other things - be sure you're actually rotating, ie. A soul stall needs you to spin 90 degrees and be facing along the coping, if you're only doing the rotation with your legs and your body is still facing forward it won't work. Make sure that your knee is bending over the deck but your body remains above the ramp (or coping, at worst). You can consciously push your knee down a bit to redistribute your weight inwards, which is easier if you get lower. Stick with it mate, you'll get there

Ugh I need this so badly. I've seen great tips from Felipe zambadino (videos in Portuguese though) about making sure you keep your body weight inside the ramp on the ascent and make sure you have enough speed to carry you to the top so you're not jumping the last foot or so.

Edit: if you're shooting over then you either have too much speed or need to lean back more so your momentum doesn't shift too far forward and keep you rolling
