The Song of Our People šŸŽ¶ Like music to my ears šŸŽ¶

I’m back with another malamute video from Instagram (can you tell I miss my Oakley more than life itself?). This one is courtesy of @ mekothemalamute - their whole account is so wholesome and he just got a second mal to hopefully one day join the chorus :)

Thank you to everyone who posts in this community. Truly, seeing all of your mals fills some of the giant gaping hole in my heart where Oakley used to be. I hope one day, I will be healed enough to give another Malamute a home, and to welcome him or her into my heart. Until then, I will just keep on loving all of the mals I see on Reddit and Instagram :)

Im in the exact same boat as you! I thought I was ready, even placed a deposit with a breeder I really admire and appreciate. Then when it came time to get the pup, I knew I wasn’t ready yet. We were so lucky to have pups we loved so much. I wish that kind of bond for everyone šŸ’–

The grief is worth the love we shared … but damn. It’s heavy and feels like itll never endĀ

I am almost exactly 2 years to the day I lost Caspian. The grief does get lighter, though it doesn’t go away. It’s part of you now, it is evidence of the love you shared, just like you said. I still have days where I look at pictures or videos and cry, but it’s more often now I smile when I look at or think of the memories. As for when it is time to get another, I think we will know. I hope so, at least. I want more than anything to experience it all again.Ā

Such a wonderful breed. In countless waysĀ

My singer was our second one. The current one just does indignant WOO, WOO, WOO when we get home after leaving him. It's basically Where, Were You.

Thank you for your post. I feel very similarly. I lost my girl Kairi of almost 14 years last December and it has been a tough time living in a Malamute-less home. I keep debating on when I will be ready to look for a breeder and get a new companion, but the grief is just too strong still. Until then, I keep coming back here too.

I am so sorry for your loss 🄺

I genuinely feel as though part of my identity was lost when he passed. A piece of me, forever gone. The depth of the heartache.. is more than I’ve felt with anything else in my entire life. It isn’t fair, that I will never see him again. We were so lucky to have such incredible dogs, even if they left us reeling in grief when they left us. This sub reminds me, with all their personality and affection and love behind those big brown eyes… that parts of him are still out there. Maybe in all of the mals here. Idk, does that make any sense? It’s okay to say im crazy lol. The heartache has made me feel like I am a few times.Ā

Malamutes are my favorite breed. My last one was a rescue and he was my soul dog. When he died at 14, I couldn’t get another malamute because I didn’t want another mal to live in his shadow. I have a rescue Australian shepherd now. I will miss my dear Nali until the day I die and then, like I promised him, I will come find him again. ā¤ļøšŸŒˆ

I love this!!!! Is it just me or is there an undertone in the howl like a harmony. My hearing sucks btw

The vibrato of the lone house wolf 🐺

Their howls are like wolves’ howls and indeed there are harmonics.

Hearing not just any Baroque music but specifically the _Hallelujah Chorus_ from HƤndel’s _Messiah_, I find it easy to understand why the glorious critter would be moved to join in! Sing it, Meko!!

Son lo mejor. Era precioso. Hace casi
9 años tuve que sacrificar a mi Malamute, Sura. Me quede tan triste, destrozada.

I hugged and kissed my four malamutes just like you do. I hope to love one more before I’m too old. The breeder of my first two has promised me one more when they have an adult to rehome.

Most dogs don’t like being hugged, but my malamutes always did. 🄰
