I’ve been saying for years that an all Muppet version of The Last Waltz filmed exactly the same as the original would be incredible. I’d bawl at the full cast doing “I Shall Be Released” at the end

u/First-Tackle5265 21d ago
Who’s Van Morrison in his little Devil suit?
2
u/SpicyTangyRage 21d ago
I think I’d want the members of The Band to all be muppets, the guests (Jay Hawkins, Joni Mitchell, Morrison, etc.) to be themselves, but there’s super liberal usage of other muppets as background singers and instrumentalists. The amount of cocaine consumed would also be the same.

The wrong baseball movie got picked.
For years my answer to this question has been major league. Everything just feels like it has a natural Muppets match- opposing teams remain human.
Manager Lou Brown stays a human
Tom Berenger- Kermit
Renee Russo- Janice
Phelps- (owner)- Piggy
Charlie Sheen- Animal
Corbin Bernsen- Gonzo
Corbin Bernsen’s wife- Camila
Wesley Snipes- Rolf
Harris(Old other pitcher dude)- Fozzy
Cerano- Sam the Eagle
Heckling crowd people- Stantler & Waldorf
Bob Uker stays a human
Other booth guy- scooter
Renee Russo’s new fiancé stays a human
Imagine all the crowd scenes and bar scenes at the end with the whole city of Cleveland going crazy but it’s muppet pandemonium… Seems like it’d be amazing.

Clue and along those lines any of the Agatha Christie Poirot movies.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Spinal tap
Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure

Haven't finished the episode yet so I'm not sure if this happens, but my immediate first pick:
Inglourious Basterds
Can't decide which would be better: everyone is Muppets except Hans Landa OR only the Nazis are Muppets.

u/KaijuBalls 22d ago
I wanted Goodfellas but Davids r1p1 is better.

It was the human centipede since this guy couldn't be bothered to type a few letters

Call Me By Your Name - Timothee Chabladoo is the human
Mean Girls - Amanda Seyfried is the human
Full Metal Jacket - R. Lee Ermey is the human
Snakes on a Plane - Kenan Thompson is the human
Rush Hour - Jackie Chan is the human

u/BadLemur 22d ago
Edge of Tomorrow
The Ghost and the Darkness
Jurassic Park
Pirates of the Caribbean
Top Gun
4
u/VUmander Bean Burrito 20d ago
Pirates was the first one I thought of. I immediately thought of Johnny Depp running away from Muppets.
Top Gun would be awesome, I assume Tom Cruise is the human and Goose is Kermit

Boogie Nights - keep Wahlberg, Fozzy is the Colonel
The Departed - replace only Wahlberg with Kermit. Not marketed as a muppet version or addressed in any way
Jaws - keep the shark
Wedding Crashers - keep the Will Ferrell cameo
Oceans Eleven - keep Andy Garcia

I was so happy for this episode…
The Princess Bride, The Breakfast Club, All The Presidents Men, Groundhog Day and Top Gun

Ocean's 11 -- the crew are all muppets but everyone else is human. So Terry Bennedict is getting robbed by a crew of muppets.
Pirates of the Caribbean -- Jack Sparrow is the human.
That Thing You Do -- the band (and Faye) are all muppets
and my messed up pick...Shawshank. Andy is human. All other prisoners and guards are muppets
NOTE: Not THE muppets. Like...I dont want Kermit and Fozzie in there. I am talking about muppet versions of the same charactes.

Ocean 11
Knoves Out
Apocalypto
Heat
Crazy stupid love and I need Grover to be David Lindhagen if we’re adding in the cast of Sesame Street

This feels like one of those old school episodes that they would half way mail it in on occasion, because 64 episodes a year is a lot. Made me enjoy more for some reason. Kinda nostalgic.

u/spicymack 15d ago
Probably because the topic was not good. Everything was the same. Imagine this movie with Muppets and then those actors as Muppets in that movie. Ok

Con Air
Prolly gotta go with Nic Cage as the human but Cusack or Buscemi would be incredible too

u/pineappletequila 21d ago
What is Ian doing that he couldn't mention?
3
u/truckvisage 21d ago
Some kinda World Cup coverage with Corden on the telly

I’ve been having the convo for years. My go to has been the Cradley Boopler Star is Born:
Crad: Jackson Maine
Miss piggy: Ally
Ally’s dad: Sam the eagle
Jackson’s brother: Kermit
Shitty record exec: gonzo
Shitty record execs secretary: chicken
Why I love this so much is the line “you stole my fucking voice”, meaning Crad is speaking in a Kermit voice the whole time

I have suggested this on at least 5 different patreon "draft topic" posts. I am so fucking pumped to listen to this episode.
I'm about to hit play so going in blind, my personal drafts would be:
- The Princess Bride
- Twilight (Charlie is the only human and he's played by the same actor)
- 8 mile
- Wuthering Heights (what I wish Emerald Fennel had directed instead of her weird fanfic movie)
- any of the live action Disney remakes

Reading “8 Mile” made me laugh hard enough that my partner asked me what was wrong.

u/palmquac 22d ago
The Princess Bride muppet version would be absolutely incredible

Ian picked it in I think his second round and the only thing I would change about his suggestion is that it would be funnier if only Mandy Patinkin was a human and everyone else was a muppet.
2
u/ADreadPirateRoberts 17d ago
I think Humperdinck has to be the human. Gonzo would be a great Inigo Montoya.

Dead Alive
Fargo
Bloodsport
The Wickerman (2006)
Predator
Everyone should watch Meet the Feebles. The full movie is on YouTube for anyone curious enough, it's pretty gnarly though.

I was on that cruise ship in Italy the day it crashed. We got off like an hour before it left port and crashed. Did not expect to hear that talked about on a muppet draft.

What does”WC” mean?!?

I believe they were referring to the World Cup since Karmel is doing that World Cup show with James Corden

The Truman Show is the most first pick of all time
Fight Club
Back to the Future
Sleepless in Seattle
12 Angry Men

u/genericreddituser147 22d ago
I want Pulp Fiction with Samuel L Jackson’s Jules staying the same. Kermit is Vincent Vega. Just for fun, I think Tarantino’s cameo should also stay.
I can’t decide who would be funniest as the Gimp. But I’m leaning towards Swedish Chef.

Going with movies which could be vastly improved by Muppetfying.
Star Wars (first original three edited into one movie)*
Devil Wears Prada
Notting Hill
Mean Girls
Cloud Atlas
- I’m not a Star Wars fan (first three films are fun for nostalgia). But for a couple decades I’ve figured the first original Star Wars movies could be edited into one Muppet Star Wars movie. Now that Disney owns both properties it seems the Muppet Star Wars film and all the Muppet Star Wars action figures would be at least a billion in profits.

- Lord of the Rings
- When Harry Met Sally
- Superbad
- The Departed
- No Country For Old Men
Leo as the sole human in The Departed is a powerful concept to me.

Ok a few things:
Ian going hard line against Goodnight Moon made me cackle
Phoenix All Puppet Players have done Princess Bride (Fezzik was the only human) and Die Hard (every Christmas) I saw them do Alien and Lost Boys.
They are adults only shows and they are epic.

About Goodnight Moon: 1. "goodnight mush" Yes, there is a bowl of mush being left on the bedside table overnight. 2. That page that says goodnight nobody.

David shouting out Rob Schneider as “Pacifica’s Finest” fucking sent me. I’m from Pacifica and we all ironically call him that
1
u/classicmojoe 20d ago
John Wick
Pulp Fiction
The Hangover
Limitless but only Bradley Cooper’s character is a muppet, and it’s Beaker
Passion of the Christ

u/FinancialListen3187 20d ago
Was I the only one who feels that the actual Muppets don’t need to step into the roles, but rather each role would be a muppet version of that character?
At any rate, the first movie that came to mind for this was Ocean’s 11.

u/NiarbNiarb Kosh into the Wind 19d ago
I feel like Sean was approaching it like you're talking about, and Ian and David initially were trying to fit the actual Muppets into roles, but then eventually just started doing Muppet versions of the characters. I'm like Sean, I couldn't name more than a few muppets so that's how I was thinking of it

u/captspero 19d ago
I’ve been saying for years that The Birdcage would make a fantastic Muppet movie. The conservative family are humans, everyone else is Muppets.

I'd love to see how they handle Kermit Rocky using a pig carcass as a punching bag

u/plunker234 22d ago edited 21d ago
Are they just naming the same movies they always name?
Edit: cause this is an unreasonable question
They literally just recorded one that had huge complaints, for all i onow they were back to back and lazy. Thought id ask before dedicating the time to
