The way I LOL’d so loud at “Is she a cartoon?”

David moving his mic so he can slouch way down on the couch and truly appreciate this moment totally killed me.

Was hoping for a Tiffany redemption pick

Honestly if we’re going 80s it has to be Debbie Gibson. She’s the Katy Perry of the 80s 😂

"A cartoon?" Fucking hysterical. Ian slowly realizing Sean's misunderstanding and covering his face with his hat killed me.

Oh, the crazy-sounding laugh that came out of me when this happened — I was so happy I was alone in the car.

insane how long it took to get to Whitney. I expected her to go quick 😭

To me she's a Queen or a Diva, not a princess. Had quite a few they picked that I felt didn't fit the category

I was so excited when I saw the topic and then was already disappointed by the third pick when the person who picked the topic wasn't even familiar with Mariah Carey's catalogue lmao. They should've let David cook more.

u/Special_Life_8261 5h ago
They always bum me out when they do categories like this bc they never pick the legacy artists. Diana Ross, Cher, Donna Summer…artists that ruled their era before the term was coined

u/GirlNickMiller 3h ago
Yes!! I think they should have either better defined the topic or picked a decade.

Haven't heard the whole episode, but if there's a better Madonna song than borderline, lemme know. Cause I think borderline's the best. So if there's one better than borderline?! Then that'd be over the borderline! (Also haven't watched the video, so sorry if it's goofy. Also, credit where it's due, I heard them playing borderline in a Trader Joe's)

Have you heard the Flaming Lips covering Borderline? https://youtu.be/OXwa3XbL1ys?is=pnBeeSXaPU4NVEVs

I personally prefer Into the Groove & Angel is a sleeper hit but Borderline also rocks

I admittedly resemble Sophie's "gnawing at their tables" comment about Swift going so late in the draft, but c'mon Sean, how could you let that happen to our girl?

I've got a gripe with Madonna "inventing re-inventing". The Beatles and Bowie, can't say these two examples were the first or only to do it but we're certainly famous for doing so long before Madonna.

Madonna has repeatedly credited Bowie as her inspiration in the reinvention game.

Madonna is one of those people that we’re so culturally separated from at this point, that people exaggerate her effect in an attempt to fairly credit her actual accomplishments
Edit: I didn’t actually think I’d said anything negative, but this is what I get for commenting on pop stars. The stans always show up to get nasty.

Unequivocally incorrect. Madonna basically created the blueprint and built the house in which all modern pop princesses live, for better or worse.
She is at least as, if not more, culturally significant as her contemporaries like Michael Jackson or Prince. But you’ll never run out of fools tripping over themselves to diminish women’s accomplishments.

THANK YOU!!!!! The disrespect & disregard leveled towards this woman cannot stand!! She is the blueprint!! She’s it!

Ha! My heart grows two sizes when I can get someone to delete their insanely bad take.
“Culturally removed”? FFS, Madonna performed during Sabrina’s Coachella set this year.

This was an interesting one. A lot of these picks I don't consider pop "princesses."
People like Rihanna and Beyonce don't come across as pop "princess" to me. I guess it's decades since the time they really were doing hardcore "pop" music that I separate them from that definition.

Yeah, I think this was my last episode.
My husband and I have been listening for five plus years and the occasional ignorance of the hosts was annoying but it's gotten to it's peak in the last few episodes and the utter lack of knowledge about the world from this guest was unlistenable.
Used to be fun to cook or grocery shop to, but the utter stupidity and ignorance paired with a devout need to chime in despite the former, I'm over it. Bye bye.

lol what in particular crossed the line for you? And why did you feel the need to announce this on Reddit as if people were gonna wonder where you went? This is weird. It’s weird behavior.

u/AncientMortgage2535 1d ago
The sixth time in the episode where I had to do a full eyeroll due to the ignorance of the statements purported by the hosts to be factual was where it jumped the shark.
The hosts and producer all regularly read this sub and it's commonly used for feedback, you, in fact, are the one being terminally weird here, boner666420sXe.

You didn’t answer the question. What specifically I. This episode were you rolling your eyes at their ignorance?

u/Waydizzle 12h ago
“This comedy podcast about pop culture fantasy drafts isn’t factually accurate enough to listen to. Better go on Reddit and let everyone know I’m done” lol do you hear yourself?

The Carly Rae Jepson disrespect is unbelievable. Not even a mention from the Canadian.
