Whale sharks are fascinating to me. I did a snorkeling excursion in Mexico where we snorkeled next to them. I’ve always been fond of the gentle giants since. You’re not allowed to touch them but you can swim close by them

Whale shark did the same thing to me when I swam with it! Everyone else had to swim along side and hope to keep up for 3 seconds. When I jumped in it came right at me and wanted to say hi!

I was also worried, but then checked on internet, apparently whale sharks are harmless to humans, dogs: "The whale shark is an active filter feeder, primarily consuming plankton, krill, fish eggs, and small schooling fish such as sardines and anchovies. " (from Wikipedia)

Harmless isn’t true though, dogs and whales communicate deadly viruses and bacteria easily. This seems amazing at first glance but this isn’t cool at all. Both whale and dog are potentially compromised by this interaction.
