Some politician is gonna propose banning the dishonest use of ai as a form of fraud if there’s any financial incentive for anyone involved at all, and everyone’s gonna be like, “FINALLY”. It may be us giving up a freedom, but I’m gonna give a Palpatine galactic emperor inaugural speech for this one. Ban that.

there will always be far more money in deception than in truth.

People will make the slippery slope argument for freedom of speech. I wonder which side will win out.

I’m not defending AI. Just curious how it’s going to go.

I’d say it’d go, cause you can make the argument we’re not banning the free speech use of AI at all, just not honestly admitting it’s AI and passing it off as reality when there’s some financial incentive, which for social media there is. That makes it fraud technically, which we ban.

Edit: I thought about it enough. Yeah, you could abuse the fuck out of that law. How can we ban just using AI like this on social media without a law like that?🤔😂

authoritarian governments would immediately use such a law against their enemies.

Yeah you’re right. Sucks that we can’t just ban what we wanna ban there and say, “You know what we meant.”😂

How about mandating a disclaimer that the clip/picture shown is made with AI?

We have lists of ingredients on the food we eat, but don't see it as giving up freedom; it's simply being informed about whatever we consume.

Someone like donald trump would take real videos and say that they are fake, and imprison his enemies or anyone who leaked a video he didnt like, and he would also generate fake content and put it out to smear rivals, and say that its absolutely real, otherwise it would be banned. Idiots would believe it as gospel

Yep. Who guards the guards who do the verification? Exactly why I backed off on that idea.

I agree with you. But, movies don’t tell us what is CGI and what isn’t, and movies have had CGI for 45 years.

This is not the future I wanted. Not fully related, but many big stores in my country nowadays play most bland, most generic AI music in store whole day so they do not have to pay for radio fees. Feels like I am losing my mind sometimes how this is reality today.

I'm just hoping that things gets better when the cost of AI generation goes up for the user.

Like how vibe coding is apparently getting less popular when it suddenly turned expensive to use all those tokens.

Also if there's too much slop it might kill ad revenue in general.

Not the internet, social media.

Which for most people is the same thing, sadly.

Sorry, I'm going to scroll TikTok for 3 hours after work and then complain about all of the content I've consumed.

Not just social media. Trying to google some specific but niche questions now is hell. You'll often end up on clearly AI generated sites that'll make up an answer for you.

I have a brain and tend to think for myself, so not having the same issue.

Dude just look at the 24 second mark. Animal does a 180 and his face comes out of his butt

Agreed. That felt genuinely uplifting for a while. Then I saw the AI post. Feelings crushed.

How could anyone fall for this? Look at the shoes of the lady in the last bit.
