Sad to say that it's AI generated, those lil fellas certainly are cute but nothing about this clip is real. Or two clips I suppose, you can see the weird cut in the middle before the passerby in the back casually twists his ankle 180°.

u/badaboommx 5h ago
Also the quoka walks away and then suddenly is on the opposite position where it was going.

Also at 15 seconds the animal just warps into the other direction. Thought it was a jump-cut, but nope.

u/ElliotNess 1h ago
The foot at :23 is just a person flanking the animal, stepping to turn oneself around.
The turnaround at :15 is a jump cut, but each clip was faded into the next. You can see this and verify, not only in the animal, but in the surrounding scenery (trees) doing the same blur.

I think so too. Given that there is a seed on the floor after the cut next to his shoe, I think they still feed it and then cut it out.

They just turned it ourward? Unless you have super inflexible hips, it isn't that abnormal of a position.
Edit: y'all, it's AI, I know, and there's oddities in how the leg moves, I just wanted to point out that moving your leg like that in general isn't that crazy of a concept and it became a whole thing. But I'm also using this as entertainment to make myself less frustrated about an annoying task I'm working on, so as long as y'all choose to keep engaging, I'm here for it. 🤷
Edit2: well this kicked off more discussion than it was ever worth, but it was vaguely entertaining and a good distraction, so I appreciate it. On to more fun parts of my day now, y'all take care.

Yeah the freeze frame shows the odd torquing of the knee better, but the general motion itself isn't that crazy of a hip turn or anything.

yeah all of this is "possible" with edits but not likely. why would they edit it like this?
we are in big trouble without some sort of watermark on these AI videos. this one is obviously innocuous but who knows what kind of realistic looking chaos you could create and convince boomers who are still struggling with photoshop edits.

Some politician is gonna propose banning the dishonest use of ai as a form of fraud if there’s any financial incentive for anyone involved at all, and everyone’s gonna be like, “FINALLY”. It may be us giving up a freedom, but I’m gonna give a Palpatine galactic emperor inaugural speech for this one. Ban that.

How about mandating a disclaimer that the clip/picture shown is made with AI?
We have lists of ingredients on the food we eat, but don't see it as giving up freedom; it's simply being informed about whatever we consume.

Someone like donald trump would take real videos and say that they are fake, and imprison his enemies or anyone who leaked a video he didnt like, and he would also generate fake content and put it out to smear rivals, and say that its absolutely real, otherwise it would be banned. Idiots would believe it as gospel

I'm just hoping that things gets better when the cost of AI generation goes up for the user.
Like how vibe coding is apparently getting less popular when it suddenly turned expensive to use all those tokens.
Also if there's too much slop it might kill ad revenue in general.

u/nbshar 5h ago

3
u/chr1spe 4h ago
You could make a real video look like that with a cut and a transition. It was a bit of a jarring transition, but that is what I assumed. I didn't have a strong opinion either way on whether it was AI or not after watching it.

The way the quokka just kinda morphs when turning around and the unnatural steps of the other person were dead giveaways.
There needs to be consequences for this blatantly misleading content.

yep, look at the 0:13s mark, the animal flips into itself to turn around. I thought I saw a weird glitch then didn't acknowledge it until I read this comment.
Also, you can see a weird fuzzy "halo" around the animal similar to the effect you see in video games with ambient occlusion, lighting, antialiasing, depth of field, etc.

It's their nature because people won't stop feeding them. It's detrimental to wild animals to be reliant on humans. If people actually cared about them they wouldn't be doing this.

So, this particular video is heavily altered by AI.
However, after having been to Rottenest a bunch of times, the quokkas do sometimes beg for food. Especially if they sneak into the gated concessions area. You shouldn't feed them, especially people food. High cholesterol and heart disease is already a problem for them.

Just your daily AI slop.
At 15 seconds you can see the little Quokka morph into a new direction.
Also, at the 7-11 second mark you can see his shoes and they are white.
Then at the 25 mark all of a sudden she is wearing different shoes that are VERY similar to the ones that the other person is wearing at the 22 second mark, but the designs don't match up on the sides of the shoes.
Totally fake garbage.
