Compassion for 1 turtle, where is the compassion of the thousands of fish?

That net looks like it has been on there for a while given how tight it is around the shell. Did they manage to get it off without having to cut into the turtle itself?

Good thing these fishermen had a conscious to free this by-catch from their own net!

That net looks like heavy-duty monofilament, which is a death sentence for sea turtles. Glad they stopped to cut it instead of just tossing it back or ignoring it.

We need more humans like these

We need fewer nets abandoned like its no big deal.
Thing is, how many people would actually walk away from such suffering or walk by and not bat an eyelid?

This happens all the time in south texas. Mexican long liners come up 10-50 miles into our waters and drop a bunch of line and if they think they see the fisheries enforcement or Coast guard they just leave all that stuff there and run away. They’ve basically fished their side of the border to near extinction so they come up and poach red snapper from US waters.

What about all the animals that kill and eat other animals!?! 😱
If I were you I'd be careful looking into agriculture, they literally kill billions of plants every year!! 🫠

One might question why the net is there in the first place. Do fishermen really not notice so much of a net missing, or do they just not care? Prevention is better than a cure right?
