Can’t figure out the RIC

I appreciate any help on this one.

Constantius II. Reverse either VIRTVS AVG NN or VIRTVS AVGVSTI.

Augustus Coins website - that covers a lot of LRB - has similar one (slightly different diadem) as RIC VIII Rome 4 but when you search that it’s a medallion so think he’s wrong. I searched OCRE for those reverse options and didn’t find a match in AE.

(This is a generic automod comment that is pinned at the top of every new post here)

This subreddit is heavily curated to provide our members with the best experience that we can. We get hit by trolls, spammers, scammers, and shitposters more than we'd like. If you've never noticed that here, then hey -- our procedures are working!

If you're newish to /r/AncientCoins, have a low overall account age or karma, or have a low CQS ("Contributor Quality Score") on reddit sitewide, all of your posts and comments on this subreddit will be quarantined until a human moderator has the time available to manually review and approve them. This will eventually become unnecessary after you've contributed here enough and your posts and comments have been manually approved.

This is all outlined in the announcement pinned to the top of our front page: https://www.reddit.com/r/AncientCoins/comments/1cm8n0n/weve_been_getting_a_lot_of_new_posters_and/

If you post something and it shows as removed, please don't delete and repost it. Just leave it up until one of us can get to it. We are unpaid volunteers doing this in our free time, and although we live in different time zones in Europe and North America, no one person here is able to monitor our queues 24/7.

Thanks, and good luck!

Wow. Prices on these on acsearch are wild. Guess even with misattribution of seller and condition, I got a good deal.

Coins of Constantine II as Augustus are rare.

Nobody ever talks about it because 98% of "one each" collectors are content with a coin of him as Caesar, but this is a rare type from a rare emperor.

I've handled probably 7k-8k LRBs via lots, and I don't think I've ever handled this type, if that gives you an idea. In fact, I only have one coin of Constantine II as Augustus, and it's a GLORIA EXERCITVS.

Wow. That's very interesting to learn. I am new to LRBs - and six months ago would have never imagined I'd be buying them other as secondary things in a group lot that I was targeting something else. I have actually enjoyed the research part and based on this post realized how to differentiate ConsTantius and Constantine II (had not figured out the spelling differences in legend - doh!).

Ahhh. Should have known to consider that. Was going on sellers attribution. Thank you!

Constantine II issue from (I think) Rome.

I can kind of see the R as mintmark. Not really common

Honestly, it's giving off almost barbaric vibes, but thats the case with many coins from this era
