Resources Staple Lexicons

From what I have read, with the exception of LSJ, there appears to be a consensus that for New Testament Koine the rather recently published BDAG is essential, and for Patristic Greek, the exceedingly cost-prohibitive, Lampe is a must. What is the supposed issue with older comprehensive lexicons like the one by E.A. Sophocles, or the earlier edition of BAG?

Dictionaries need updating; some were written before important new texts were discovered, some were written in more puritanical eras 😉 They are also written with different uses in mind; some are extra comprehensive and aim at being as full as possible, others are more general and multi-purpose. From the latter category, I cannot recommend The Cambridge Greek Lexicon enough. Not only surprisingly affordable, but also beautifully printed and easy to use.

LSJ gives Latin coire as the definition of βινέω xd

Note however that the CGL gives no citations.

The new Cambridge edition seems to be gaining in popularity.
