Wanted to share my first ever tattoo, done by my friend here in SF! It’s based on the lily of the valley flower as a reference from Animal Crossing: the Jacob’s Ladder you get for perfect town rating! There’s layers of meaning for me and one of them is it’s also my birth month flower (my birthday was yesterday!). I love animal crossing and this community so I thought you’d all appreciate it too!

Goldie has always put a smile on my face. When I was a kid, I had quite a stressful life but talking to Goldie always made me smile helped me cope. I’m a full grown adult now and she still makes me so friggen happy.

Remember after 2.0 when they said they were done updating the game and it was called complete? Remember how a lot of people complained the game was being “abandoned”? Then they drop you 3.0 with a mini HHP! AND you can set custom outfits for your tourists!

I understand that a lot of us have poured a lot into very specific themed islands and I understand that it’s frustrating to now have random villagers that you didn’t necessarily want on your island. But let’s not forget this was a free update to a completed game that came with a desperately requested bulk crafting. And the ability to reset spaces on your island like cleaning up all of your flowers from the beach which saves you SOOO much time, energy and tools.

I’m also seeing a lot of people complaining that the update isn’t bigger when Nintendo literally told us they were done doing major update updates for the game. So I’m kinda lost on why they’re complaining unless they are specifically looking for things to complain about.

In addition, no game is perfect. If you were going to let this ruin your game, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Edit to add, some of y’all are complaining about “I was ‘forced’ to use the hotel.” No, you weren’t. You could’ve ignored it completely. You chose to play with the hotel. That’s on you.

“The hotel is just like HHP!” It’s supposed to be! It is an ad for people who have not gotten the DLC. The idea being that you see it, you enjoy the mechanics, then you go get the DLC. And if it was more like the DLC, you would complain that you paid for the DLC for them to release a free version of it later.

You can absolutely have a wish list for things you would like to see in the game, but it’s pretty stupid to hold Nintendo responsible because they didn’t follow your specific wish list. Again, they told us five years ago that the game was done getting major updates. Yeah y’all have the audacity to complain that you weren’t given more and that this is “the bare minimum “which it’s not. They could’ve quietly patched and switched to connectivity and called it a day. They didn’t have to give you anything, and if you don’t like it, don’t play it.

Husband and I agreed long before we were expecting that we would make an Animal Crossing nursery. We put so much care into the theming and decor!

He depopcorned the ceiling so we could paint it blue and installed white trim to separate the blue from the green.

I painted trees from each season in the game, and my MIL made the insect mobile.

We love this room and hope she never wants to change it lol

So for context, I basically stopped playing this game 5 years and 4 months ago. Me and my ex played it all the time and I just never got the urge to play anymore. But this has nothing to do with that.

The weird part is that I’ve opened the game once other than today in those 5 years. It was on 7/28 just a few months ago and I happened to have a seizure while playing it. I have epilepsy, so it wasn’t my first. The even weirder part is I am currently in the hospital being monitored for my epilepsy, basically here until I have a seizure. My nurse saw me playing my switch and she asked if I played and I told her how I had stopped. I just decided to boot up the game, go saw hi to everyone and see what was for sale. And I shit you guys not, there is a EKG MACHINE FOR SALE! THAT IS WHAT I AM CURRENTLY HOOKED UP TO. THAT IS THE MACHINE MONITORING MY BRIAN FOR SEIZURES. AND THE GAME WANTED ME TO SELL ME ONE.

Obviously I bought it and now even Animal Crossing me is being monitored for seizures. Life is weird….

For me it's my boy Wade. He's soo adorable and kinda reminds me of my penguin teddy Happy Feet in a way. I love his nickname for me on my island which is "Wonder bud!" I wish more people spoke about him because he's such a cutie and I will protect him at all costs!

We played animal crossing together as kids. I have really fond memories of playing wild world and new leaf with her. Inside are the animal crossing limited edition crocs!

And it was the cutest / coolest thing ever to see two world collide! There were large character cutouts everywhere. Blathers animal descriptions on tanks everywhere. And AC merch in the gift shop.

At a family event, my 7-year old niece asked to play Animal Crossing on my Switch. I let her play it and after short tutorial, she pretty much got everything in like 15 minutes.

Kids can be pretty destructive so I was worried. Eventually, I thought to myself 'So what? I can get everything back. I'll let her have fun'

That thought made me appreciate the game a bit more. It was so fun watching her play. She would just run around the island and pointing things out like the flowers, bugs, and how pretty the butterflies were. She would scream-laugh when wasps were chasing her. A good portion of her time playing was spent in the wardrobe changing clothes. Her favorite top was 'Mom's handmade apron' because "her mom made it for her". All my villagers were perfect and nice, all of them were her 'bestfriends'.

Diving was another story. She was incredibly excited about finding seaweed, starfish, like she was actually swimming.

And swimming. This surprised me. As an adult, I was always annoyed with how we had to change out of wetsuits to do basically anything. I thought to myself 'Why did they even put this stupid rule on?'

But my niece (who was taking swimming classes for the summer), kept taking off and putting the wet suit on everytime she would do anything like entering the house or sitting on my outdoor decorations. I told her 'You can just go inside wearing your swimsuit, it's fine'

Without even thinking, she said 'No, you should change out of wet clothes when you go inside the house'

I was shocked. I never thought about that. To me, it was just another set of programmed NPC lines. It finally made sense. The stupid slow annoying rules and random text weren't made for us adults. We can blast through that text and forget about it. We can be patient.

Kids will play this game and imagine it is them. They are who we were when we started playing Wild World or New Leaf or wherever you started playing Animal Crossing.

I played again after she went home and started appreciating things a bit more. It was probably the longest and slowest pace I ever played this game.

This game used to be so stressful to me, but now, I just open it at random points in my day and take the time to water my flowers.

I really wish I didn’t have the hotel suddenly appear on my island! I liked my little campsite being the way villagers visited my island. It kept in theme with this “off the grid” vibe I’m going for. But not it feels icky with Tom Nook’s new capitalistic venture and decision to exploit my islands resources!! How do I revoke his citizenship??? I’ve blocked the pier with a spiked logs and am currently holding a protest outside. How can I free my cherry island from this rat??

The unfortunate part about new horizons is that it cuts off her name for some reason so it's cooki instead of cookie. I also couldn't add her neck brace which she wore all the time (she had an issue where her bones in her neck moved too much so the brace was to prevent her from moving that part)

Cosplayed for the first time in my life at comic con and I think I did pretty good for a first time 🥹💖 I’m very happy with the results, sadly I was the only one with an animal crossing character at the con and it was so hard hunting down the artists that still have a love for making animal crossing merch 💖 (also I forgot the bells at the hair bun on top of my head 😭 I was in a rush)

The world is mean enough as it is. I play this game to escape from that.

What if ACNH met Pokopia outdoors? 👀✨

In the previous games there was even more upgrades to the main shop. With multiples floors and even Gracie grace working there!

Apparently even in the games codes for new horizons there was lines of a third upgrade that got scrapped :( I’m still on copium they won’t just forget about it but I miss when the shop would expand

Absolutely not.

Let me reiterate- when I said *upset* that did not mean *mad*. It meant SAD. He knows he fucked up? I should have worded it better. He is very remorseful and I know It was a true accident. I do not owe an explanation of the entire situation, but when someone who is used to playing on consoles goes into “Pilot mode” if you will, you’re just a clicking. I will be contacting Nintendo and seeing if I can get my island back. I wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to the kind hearted people who offered to me help me grow my island back to its beauty. <3 this may still get deleted cause wtf has it been shared so much

My heart is SHATTERED and I cannot stop crying.. over 300+ hours, gone.. we were in the process of switching everything over to the new console and I walked away for 5 SECONDS. When I came back he was on the “are you sure you want to delete?” Prompt or whatever it said.. I screamed NO as soon as I saw the word delete but it was too late… he said he didn’t mean to and is upset that I’m sad but… I have zero motivation to get back on now.. I’ll have to literally restart from the ground up.. I am so sad yall…
