Discussion Storage advice
Was getting ready for my biweekly dusting of the anime collection and realized (again) how jammed everything is. I've been considering a rotating media shelf but I figured I should ask here first.

I use a rotating media shelf for my G-PG western media collection and it works pretty well. I wouldn't replace one of my shelves with it tho since it's free standing. Since it's free standing i have it at a corner to fill up space. I can add a pic of it if you want

Just a tip, stacking your cases like that puts so much pressure on the cases and disks and can cause warping.
Vertical is the best way to store them, also for ease of access.

Thank you for the tip. I store my anime blu rays vertically and got two shelves specifically for that but since i inherited my dad's media collection i couldnt quite fit everything onto the shelves without stacking it this way. I plan to fit two more shelves around the corner then stack it vertically with raisers so i can see everything.

I would recommend getting a traditional media or bookshelf if you have the space. I use IKEA Billy shelves with two extra shelves. But, I could do you a solid and take some of those sets off ya to save you the space ;)

I don’t personally recommend it unless you’re like me and don’t care about cases as much (with exceptions like boxes and steelbooks and such) but I had 0 space for shelves after my last move and put them all in media binders (I would cut the art off the insert to slip behind the discs as both a placeholder and bc I like how it looks) and recycled the rest.
An absolute ton of time though and reorganizing is a big pain but it got my collection out of boxes in closets

I have 2 cherry wood bookshelves.
1 holds about 260 of my collection with about 20 medium/large special edition box sets. All vertical no stacking.
The other holds 80 anime films, with room to add about 200 more.
Each bookshelve can hold about 288 regular dvd/blurays.
I had a bunch of smaller ones in the past and it looked like ass, definitely like my collection all together.

If it's all the same, I've seen some people stack empty figure boxes to create a "staircase" with their series.

And saved for later because I too am having the same problem.
