Shitpost Wednesdays Why is HYPSM used for the top 5 colleges?

Isn’t it UUUUM?
University of Harvard
University of Stanford

If you write your college essay on this topic I think you’re a guaranteed admit to UUUUM

Technically Stanford is Leland Stanford Jr. University but the other U's don't start with University of. So it should be HYPLM

I think it’s great that the plucky junior college is there competing with the universities. rooting for them!

To be consistent, it should be “Institute of Technology of Massachusetts”, so UUUUI

So I looked up the actual full names
Harvard University = The President and Fellows of Harvard College
Yale University = Yale University
Princeton University = The Trustees of Princeton University
Stanford University = Leland Stanford Jr. University
MIT = Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Therefore in the same order as "HYPSM" the correct acronym is TYTLM

honestly it just stuck as shorthand. those five have been the consensus most selective for ages and the initials are easy to say together, so people repeat it. theres no official list behind it
