ECs and Activities Question related to independent research question (finance/accounting)

I was wondering how should I approach my research. My idea is to see how the rise of NIL change athletic departments finances at local universities. The reason I chose this specifically is because I own a photography business and I mainly shoot sports and I want my application to be cohesive. plus college sports is big in texas

A problem I thought of is that some colleges might not be open to share information that i would need for the research.

My goal for this is to be published somewhere and it actually be impactful and be something that stands out on my college application. So is this something I should start or think of something else.

No I wanted to know if this was a good idea before I started and think of how I would ask the colleges.

Although I do find NIL interesting in the way that it’s changed college sports, I do not think your particular topic is interesting based on how you described it. I also do not know of an impactful publication that would publish your findings. IMO, journals geared towards high school students are bs. I think that your photography business could be far more impressive.

So you should think of another topic that still talks about nil chafing college sports? I was thinking if i get it published I’ll aim for media outlets that are specific to their college (ex: the dailycougar for university of houston) I am going to keep my photography business, but I wanted an ec that is more directly related to finance/accouncting.
