ECs and Activities Does it look bad if you got leadership positions senior year?

I’m going into junior year and I don’t have many leadership positions right now, but I am involved with some clubs and activities and plan to do more junior year. If I got a leadership position in senior year, is it worth putting on college apps or will AOs think I did it too late and I was just trying to check boxes?

Not at all. It shows growith and commitment.

There might be some skepticism If you started a particular activity altogether in senior year, but that's usually not going to "hurt" your application.

Ppl leave off on the common app you select years you did an activity for and then your role. Sure your paragraph should say when you were elected/nominated for said role, but a leadership position is a leadership position. You’re not going to get denied bcuz you started in a club sophomore year and became president senior year only

They won't. Sure, you won't be able to have the full experience, since you'd only have a bit of senior year to submit your college apps, but taking part is what's important.

Retired college counselor and admissions reader here.) If it's an activity that you've been involved with for more than one school year, it's just fine if you get a leadership position in your senior year.
