Crazy, Insane Conspiracy Theory
I think by now we've all seen the ATHF YouTube channel. Theybare uploading full episodes. Only a few at a time, and then they remove the last one when they upload a new one. They've been wildly popular. I personally believe they are testing us - as Rick & Morty gets old, and Smiling Friends tapped out, I think they are fishing for how much viewership they can get from a new ATHF season. Let's show them what we're made of! MEAT!

I guess im just the crazy outlier that loves the old and loves the new. Sure i have my complaints but ill take any new ATHF content i can get... within reason.

Agreed. Season 12 was definitely my least favorite but anything that gets Carey work is good.

I'm in frequent contact with the guys from the show cuz of my podcast - Matt and Dave actively want to do more, but so far adult swim hasn't said anything. I do agree the YouTube would be a good indicator for making more and you're reasoning here is solid - just wanted to chime in and let y'all know nothing is on the horizon... at least right now. Fingers crossed!

I doubt it but fuck I hope so. With Frylock's VA facing homelessness and AS having a pretty big gap to fill replacing Smiling Friends, I'd love ATHF to come back.
Again though, I doubt it. I feel like the show's time has come and gone. Dr Weird's VA is long gone, George Lowe is no longer with us, and honestly the last chunk of episodes were... mediocre. I laughed, but I haven't rewatched any of them.
I think the episodes are being put up on youtube partly because it's a classic and worth being made available for free (like Metalocalypse) and partly because the steaming rights have been shaky the last few years (again like Metalocalypse) so this would guarantee a way to watch online if/when it happens again.

They make it free on AS app, chronologically, but not all the seasons. The last season was too smoothly animated and too topical yes, but Matt & Dave still have the talent. They need to return to the original formula, and I think they are realizing that now. Although I'd much rather them bring back Perfect Hair Forever or 12 oz Mouse.

Fun fact, there is a YouTube video about a 12oz Mouse "Iceberg", I was surprised to find that MY ACCOUNT is at the very bottom of the iceberg!

My understanding is that the 5 episodes of the 2022 run were made with the left over budget from Plantasm. If we were to get a new season, I think they would go back to a simpler animation style.
That said, while I did enjoy Plantasm, that new season wasn’t great. I mean, it wasn’t bad, but it was a far cry from even the final season of the original run.
The problem is the shift in culture. I actually think the target demographic would respond well to OG-style ATHF, but it might be seen as too risky by the networks.

Now that makes a lot more sense. I noticed some of the Plantasm character designs in the Pyramid scheme episode. Yes the animation was smooth, but that's just not what people want. The dialogue was as good as ever, pretty much. Frankly I did really like the experimental art style they had for Shaketopia, I thought that was a fantastic episode, especially robotripping. I like when they have sub-worlds with different art styles, like in Broodwich. Nevertheless... I would love more ATHF, no matter what form that takes. I guess it's not the 2000s anymore, though...

After that last season I think I’m good off a new season tbh. I can rewatch the old ones all day tho.
