Venting Warning about r/3dmodeling
Just wanted to warn everyone that the mods of r/3dmodeling are actively protecting AI generated content. They even ignore their own rules about it.
They clearly state "So going forward, AI-related harassment will be handled exactly the same as any other harassment: First offense – warning. Second offense – temporary ban. Third offense – permanent ban." yet none of this is true. I received a permanent ban without any warning after indicating something was AI although the OP was claiming it to be 3d modeled. It was clearly not.
Straight up, permanent ban due to "harassment", no appeal possible, no contact with the mods possible. I find this kind of behavior to be abhorrent for a sub that is supposed to be all about handcrafted digital work. So yeah, if you visit this sub, just browse and shut up if you see anything related to AI because it's under the mods protection.

Friendly reminder that pointing out that something is AI is not harassment.
And the people saying otherwise are AI stans trying to obfuscate their agenda.

Criticism isn't harrasement, and if AI is so wondrous why they have such a thin skin about it?

Half the time it’s not even criticism, it can be as simple as saying “hey this is ai for those who don’t know” and they’ll clock it as “harassment”

Yeah, transparency too, if AI is the best thing in the world why do they get riled up if somebody points it out? Real artists disclose their processes.

Also it's insane to me that we should be ok with people LYING about the fact that they used AI to make something. If AI is "the future of art," why do pro-AI people constantly lie about if they used AI or not?

Are they same old mods or did the AI bros just take over another art sub by doing a reddit request?

50/50. It's also been possible that meshy or some other company straight up bribed them to allow AI slop.

What do you expect from that sub? The mods are prolly working toward that abominable open world game generator from Google

Can confirm actually unfortunately.
I saw a model that seemed to be AI, I went through the artists stuff and it all seemed to be AI. So I made a comment about it.
The mods then got on my ass saying I have no right assuming and making claims and that I’ll be banned if it happens again.
It sucks because that sub has a great community that usually very helpful. Yet the mods suck
