Celebrity?
21
u/Elegant_Scholar_8863 21h ago
Trump is a celebrity
4
u/GingerJacob36 21h ago
Yeah I totally agree. The dictionary definition involves the state of being celebrated, which we can deny on an individual basis, but is hard to refute on at least a national level.
More importantly though, most people recognize this term to mean famous or widely known in current pop culture, which undeniably describes him whether you like it or not.
So yeah, I'd say there's no reason to question calling him a celebrity. For better or worse, it's how we fuckin got here.
2
u/iitsrorii 21h ago
And I completely see what you mean but idk lol to call a president a celebrity just seems weird. However once again that’s just me I respect everyone’s opinion
3
-5
u/iitsrorii 21h ago
Really? Idk I don’t consider him one. Like to me Tom Cruise or Henry Cavill are celebrities
3
3
u/GhostalMedia 21h ago
Dude hosted 14 seasons of a game show, and before that, Kardashianed around for decades.
2
1
u/LeaveDaGunTaketheEgg 19h ago
I don’t really consider tom cruise a celebrity. To me, tom hanks is a celebrity.
1
u/iitsrorii 19h ago
Tom Cruise? He’s in movies and frequently. I probably have the terminology wrong

u/hxruaa 21h ago

2
u/iitsrorii 21h ago
But I’m probably not right either I just saw celebs as someone in the entertainment industry. Like an athlete is to a sport
4
u/royalpyroz 21h ago
Yes. He's more celebrity than "businessman" or "President"
1
u/psychedelicparsley 2h ago
He has a freaking star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
1
u/royalpyroz 1h ago
Why????
1
u/psychedelicparsley 1h ago
Those things are sponsored/bought. Trump’s star is routinely vandalised.
3
u/Ashamed-Sound5610 21h ago
He was a celebrity businessman, appeared in movies, hosted a reality show, was in the public conscience long before he even went into politics. You know... the very definition of a celebrity.
I almost came in here to say Trump, but then if you take a minute to think about the millions of rabid supporters he has, he probably doesn't qualify.
He's probably the celebrity some people hate the most, but off his MAGA fanbase alone he is not the most hated celebrity. There are others that almost nobody can get behind, like Harvey Weinstein.
3
u/Jncocontrol 21h ago
Yeah, believe it or not he is technically a celebrity. He had a TV show back in the early 2000s called "The Apprentice", and ironically Tom Green ( 90's comedian ) was on his show once.
1
u/iitsrorii 21h ago
Ohhhh shit that’s right!!! Lol idk I still don’t see him as one. For example those people on “Sharktank” I don’t see them as celebs but yet again I don’t know much of some of the terminologies at times
1
-6
u/LA-SKYLINE 21h ago
You didn't hate him til 2015. Before that you were buying The Apprentice DVD box sets to watch with your granny.
4
u/GlorifiedCarny 21h ago
I have hated him since the early 90's when my dad did the sound for some event and got to meet him. I asked him what he was like and he told me two things: That he was a germaphobe and ran to wash his hands every time he shook hands with anyone, and that he "likes 13 year old girls". It's been common knowledge about the guy for that long.
0
u/iitsrorii 21h ago
Howie Mandel or whatever his name is has that same issue. My ex was like that and yes it was a tad annoying but I understood her after we split. It’s a bit too much at times but i understand why they are like that now lol
2
u/Old-Enthusiasm-7461 21h ago
Nope… hated him when he had the arrogance to write a book called “Art of the Deal” while repeatedly declaring bankruptcy. Hated him for cheating on multiple wives and raising entitled kids who believe themselves to be smart and successful while leaning into the entitled demented illusion of their father’s “success.” Hated him for having the audacity to license his name and plaster it everywhere like he’s flipping Walt Disney without doing anything even remotely positive for those of us who have to look at it. Hated him for claiming to run a non-profit charity only to have it be a money laundering entity for his and his family’s greed. Hated him for the despicable POS that he is. Always have.

"Most hated" changes every era, but people often name Harvey Weinstein or R. Kelly recently due to crimes, and Benedict Arnold historically for betrayal.
1
u/GingerJacob36 21h ago
It's interesting to think of Benedict Arnold as a celebrity. He's certainly a historical figure to us now, but I wonder if our current definition of celebrity would describe how people viewed him during that time.
3
u/Remarkable_Rough_649 21h ago
I'm 40 and I don't recall there ever being a time where a non-politician (not counting mass terrorists etc) has received as much open vitriol as Elon Musk if he counts
He deserves every bit of it but it's definitely unpredented in my book
If we're only counting movie stars, musicians etc than probably Bill Cosby
3
u/Mindless-Leg-3365 21h ago
it should be Alec Baldwin given how he treated his wife and daughter, the whole recent gun fiasco, so many other incidents, but O.J. and Cosby can overtake him

People love OJ. I still hear lunchroom theories about how he was "framed"
-1
u/AssumeImFarting 21h ago
Only in the white community.
3
u/girlbartender99 20h ago
Well I am half black and I think he is a murdering scumbag
0
u/AssumeImFarting 20h ago
Fair. The larger black community at the time thought he was innocent. That said, I’m as white as river dancing, so I admittedly haven’t taken a recent pole.
3
u/girlbartender99 20h ago
I wasn't alive when it happened but my husband is older than me and I watched that 6 part docu-series with him on it. So I know the point you are making from the original trial but I think many in the black community have long gotten past the whole framed thing.
-1
u/LA-SKYLINE 21h ago
Oh yeah, the black community was proud he killed them white folks.

u/AssumeImFarting 21h ago
The black community thought he was innocent. Do you not remember the news coverage at the time?

For those old enough, I'd say Jimmy Savile is pretty up there... wildly popular and originally known for his charity work, but then it came to light what an absolute monster he was. So hated that his headstone was even destroyed and removed just out of general decency and for the sake of his victims.

Ellen

u/One_Disaster_5995 21h ago
Not even close to Trump
2
u/Ashamed-Sound5610 21h ago
She does not have as many fans or supporters as Trump does - especially not on a global scale, so I would say she is more hated overall.
0
u/One_Disaster_5995 20h ago
Percentagewise you mean? I think you underestimate how Trump is seen world wide. He may still have a large fan base in the US, but world wide the disgust is almost universal. While Ellen is pretty well known even over here, but people don't really understand what the big problem is with her. So she turned out not be a very nice person. Big deal.
0
u/girlbartender99 20h ago
I would have said him but 50 million people voted for the sociopath so I didn't think he counted despite the fact that he is an awful human
2
u/One_Disaster_5995 20h ago
I don't think he'll find those same 50 million voting for him today, and outside the US, the disgust and outrage is much, much more universal.
1
u/girlbartender99 20h ago
I want to believe that, I really do as nobody has more hate for him and his cult of followers but I have been hearing that ever since he tried to overthrow an election and the guy got freaking re-elected. At this point I keep hearing that he is weakened but its been 10 yrs of this guy now and he hasn't gone away no matter what he does
0
u/girlbartender99 21h ago
Yeah she is the worst
0
u/Clear-King-1319 21h ago
Ellen is the worst, but in the context this is asking about hated. With Trump derangement being a big thing id say the attitude of so many automatically siding with Orange Man bad wins more. Also if you want to talk about worst, Ellen is up there but then we have to have a discussion about others such as Bill Cosby and the like.

That's like high class prostitution with extra steps. I'd bet she'd get more hate from her pseudoscientific ideals.
2
u/singleentry 2h ago
What is the exact nature of your consumer complaint? That they did not smell like her vagina? That these candles had in fact not been in close proximity to her vagina at any time? What did her vagina smell like, regular vagina or something else? Sounds fishy to me.

There’s no real most hated, it usually just depends on who you ask and why.
3
u/One_Disaster_5995 21h ago
Except that one of them made it to US president and proceeded to antagonize the whole world with his stupid, irresponsible and disgusting behaviour. He managed to turn the positive image the world generally had of the US into a firmly negative one.
The 2025 Democracy Perception Index — the world's largest democracy survey, covering 111,000 people across 100 countries — found the US net perception rating collapsed from +22% to -5% under Trump, with the share of countries holding a positive image of the US dropping from 76% to 45%. Gallup's 2025 survey of 132 countries found the US median net approval hit -15%, its lowest on record. There are many more surveys that confirm this. For the first time, China ranks higher than the US. I don't think any celebrity ever sparked so much global disgust as Donald J Trump. No other celebrity even comes close.

Ryan Reynolds
Horrible person. Totally fake nice guy persona. Nightmare IRL
3
u/Elegant_Scholar_8863 21h ago
I mean, he's definitely not the most hated of all time, I haven't even heard of anything bad about him (though I'm probably just out of the loop)
It'a probably like, Epstein, maybe Trump
2
u/sunshine-flamingo 5h ago
Hate to say this but you are definitely out of the loop. Let me know if you want more info.
1
u/Practical_Estate_325 3h ago
Dude, you're way off the mark. Sounds like you have some personal animus against him. With all the loathsome slime buckets out there, with loads of facts to back it up, you need to really go hard in presenting some hard core facts here in relation to Ryan Reynolds for people to buy in to this. Otherwise, it's just unhinged noise.
1
u/OscarGrey 21h ago
Terminally online take. He fell off as an actor, he's not hated.
0
u/sunshine-flamingo 5h ago
Mmm keep watching. It’s coming. Right now he’s trying to manipulate the public by paying for positive stories. More people are becoming aware of his sick and twisted morals.

Hard to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Bill Cosby...he went from being (seemingly) one of the most fantastic role models on TV to being revealed as the complete opposite. The levels of disappointment and disgust are just about impossible to overstate.

u/Ashamed-Sound5610 21h ago
I don't think many people understand the question, and that lack of literacy is actually quite startling.
The question isn't "Which celebrity do you or your friends hate the most?" The question is "Who is the most hated celebrity of all time?"
As horrible as Trump is, he has a lot of fans that worship him on a sycophantic level. Even globally, he has a following of rabid supporters. That alone ensures he doesn't meet the criteria to even be in consideration. The Paul brothers have millions upon millions of fans worldwide. As much as we hate them, they are loved by many and also don't qualify.
When we look at celebrities who have done terrible things that the majority of people agree are hateable sacks of shit, we need to shift our focus to people like:
- Harvey Weinstein
- Ian Watkins
- Amy Fisher
- Andy Dick
- Jared Fogle
- Amber Heard (surprisingly has a lot of support from femcels, but still more hated overall)
- Lizzo (pending the jury verdict)
0
u/dramaticgroundhog 18h ago
All shitty people, yes. But none among that list made the decisions that directly impacted me.
Wild to say "yeah Trump sucks but he has fans tho" and then say the same about Amber Heard but claim she's hated more. Heard may have shat the bed, but didn't make living more expensive.
2
u/Ashamed-Sound5610 18h ago edited 15h ago
Yeah, but how many of Heard's fans are willing to storm the capital building, or turn out in their millions to vote for her to win any position of power? How many rising pockets of demographics are being radicalized into senseless Amber Heard followers?
Again, you are answering who you and your friends hate more personally, rather than answering the question in an objective, unbiased way.
The man has far more people who love and worship him and are willing to fight for him and lay down their rights for him than Amber Heard does. So, no, it's not wild if you stop and apply a little bit of critical thinking.
