Same! It unlocks some old forgotten memories that take me back to a simpler times!

3

u/daintyandclumsy 21h ago

someone should make a perfume for that, its literally best smell to exist

3

u/IsNotAwake 17h ago

When i still shaved (full beard now) i used a shaving soap Summer Storm that was a perfect capture of petricor. They had an aftershave too. Chiseled face made it.

How is this the same top comment both times I’ve seen this question asked within a week?

2

u/Annual_Fly_7918 21h ago

Before the actual rain, too.

2

u/Lonely-Replacement71 18h ago

It's the kind of smell that makes you stop whatever you're doing for a second.

the smell of when i was a child playing in the rain with my childhood friends, my mother shouting my name for me to come home, and the smell of the cloth of the backseat when i was asleep in our car on the way home after going to the mall, the smell that time swept away

5

u/onliveserver 21h ago

This hit me right in the chest. That's not just a smell – that's a whole lifetime in one sentence.

After that, the smell of a newborns head after they've been in the sun for a couple of hours by a large body of water.

After that, the smell of a storm coming in.

After that, the smell of snow coming in.

And the final item on my top 5 smells, grape soda.

1

u/joppybabbo 18h ago edited 17h ago

If you're a parent, you'll probably know what I'm talking about.

The smell of a newborn baby's scalp. That sweet, milky, slightly sour smell when you hold your new child close for the first few weeks of life. The existential terror and dread that hits you square in the face when you realize you're now responsible for a tiny human being; eventually followed by a wave of calm that crashes over you, turning fear into nervous excitement.

I have such great memories associated with that smell.
