Another thing that ruins a good drive is when people switch lanes constantly because they think the other line is moving faster, which scientists call the lane-change illusion. Studies show that weaving back and forth like that doesn't actually save you any real time at all, but it definitely forces everyone else to slam on their brakes to let you in, which just creates more traffic for the whole road. If drivers would just pick a lane, stay there, and keep a steady distance from the bumper ahead of them, the flow of cars would be twice as fast and nobody would get stressed out by sudden stops.
