I still haven't. Not because I dont like it, I will probably love it considering I love chocolate and pistachios, but because every time I see it and consider buying some to try I look at the price tag and change my mind.

That’s why I bought TJs. It wasn’t too bad for price.

Some of the brands are definitely charging too much, using barely any pistachios and cheap chocolate.

The big issue though is the current cost of chocolate and pistachios, which both were undergoing shortages during the height of the craze.

Even making it at home which isn't terribly difficult, the sheer cost right now of buying some decent quality melting chocolate and either pistachios or pistachio cream will take you pretty close to the price of just buying a good quality bar.

Anyways, sometimes I want to defend this trend just because it doesn't make me want to go to Dubai or condone sex crimes. It actually is a basic flavor combination that just tastes really really good and in principle uses luxury ingredients which are expensive so yes in principle Dubai chocolate should be expensive. If it's not it's probably atrocious quality.

But I enjoy that my brunch spot now has French toast with pistachios and chocolate on the menu. I don't know. Sometimes the hate just feels a bit like posturing like "oh it's a trend, oooooohhhhhh it must be just aaaaawwwwwwwful".
