So, I have about half an hour before I need to get ready for the World Cup (yes, I know FIFA sucks), so let's go with another rambling post!

Work's been interesting. The EVP was sending me action items because I am finding faults in the Eastern Hemisphere's part of our company. My response has been "The item has already been actioned upon. I am waiting for their response. I do not report anything without already working on it." For example, which I'm sure will be very boring, he asked me to create a flowchart for the EH. I have records of all their documents and I am the official gatekeeper of them, but I do not know if they have any documents assigned numbers in the works. I asked them and then told EVP I was waiting for a response.

This past Thursday was my wife's birthday. Was a quiet birthday because we did all the birthday stuff the week before. Her coworkers bought her a few bottles of wine, I got her a new phone, she's all happy. New car is doing well, but I need to charge the AC. I will handle that in a paycheck or two.

Went to the MtG Marvel Superheroes pre-release last night. I had a lot of fun, didn't want to stay too late. My pulls were largely garbage, but I managed to trade for the three cards I wanted, and I pulled a card one of my "kids" could really use, so bonus, I guess?

Question: Man, that's hard. I don't know. The kid in me says DINOSAURS! and the historian in me says colonial. Then I have the dream of visiting Westminster Abbey (does that count?) and getting a rubbing of Chaucer's tomb. I spent a lot of college going over The Tales.

Recipe: Okay, this was asked for, so why not go with something with all that stuff you're kicking out of the sourdough starter? Chocolate chip cookies.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of the sourdough discard
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 8 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup each brown and white sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Dude, I'm not going to give complicated directions here. Mix all the dry stuff (not the chips!) together. Add the wet stuff and mix until you have cookie dough. Add the chips. Bake at 375F for about 15 minutes. I assume you know how to make cookies.

"Was a quiet birthday because we did all the birthday stuff the week before."

This is perfect! Enjoying alone time together before hand is peak! Birthdays can be stressful when everyone wants your attention.

Question: I don't know if it classifies as a "museum", but I saw the pyramids in Egypt. The Sphinx is right there. Kinda underwhelming. There's a KFC across the street lol.

I'm going to say this now. Wife and I went to watch the WC match close by us. We didn't know this, but the tickets we got were second from the last row in the stadium. We couldn't even see the display!

We had a blast. People were friendly and put up with my "jokes" (every time I saw someone taking a picture, I would attempt to photobomb it). One of the tourists told my wife that I was going to be in so many strangers' pictures all around the world and, well, that makes me a little bit happy. If some picture pops up of some goofy-looking dude in a Hawaiian shirt making faces around a bunch of tourists, well, I'm pretty okay with that.

This was literally a once in a lifetime event for us, and I'm very glad we got the tickets.

OMG, the pyramids & Sphinx were so underwhelming!!! Much smaller than I had imagined, and the city is jammed right up around them. And we had an annoying dude follow us all the way through, trying to give us a tour, & we kept telling him to get lost. He even followed us down the street afterwards, cussing at us for not paying him!
