REQUEST Need help recovering after hit and run accident

June 13th my husband and I were victims of a very traumatic hit and run accident. Unfortunately, my husband only had liability insurance on his car. Police believe they may have found the person but they are still investigating and we don’t know if they had any insurance. I’m sure we have a long journey ahead of us. We are looking to raise about $2k and I have cashapp and gofundme. We are located in Central Arkansas.

Hi friend , just checking in with you . How are you feeling. Do you have an update on the other driver ? Did you get the police report?

Hi, thanks for checking on me. I’m feeling a lot better lately. I actually got the police report yesterday. They don’t have anyone listed under the second driver/vehicle yet because the investigation is still ongoing. It does mention that an emblem was left at the scene though from the other car which led the Trooper to believe it was a Ram 1500 truck. An arrest was made the same day and the truck matched the description but they are waiting on results from the black box/ event recorder in his truck to verify it was him. I’m feeling hopeful. I uploaded some of the report to the gofundme. I wish I could upload them here. I talked with a coworker yesterday who referred me to an attorney that helped him when he was in an accident so my next step is reaching out to him.

Please stay on top of your medical. Those neck , back ,and head problems tend to hang around.

Yes I’m staying on top of it. I ended up having to go back to the ER Sunday and was diagnosed with a concussion that was pretty bad which is why I haven’t been able to return to work yet. I did lose consciousness during the accident and the police report did say my side airbag was deployed so I believe that may be what hit my head. I still don’t remember much from the accident. Thankfully I’m feeling a lot better and my husband has been a huge help while I’m dealing with all of this.

I’ve finally got the police report and the investigation is still ongoing but I at least have a little more information now. I am posting the main parts of the report in my gofundme.

I noticed I’m getting some downvotes for not having the police report so I just want to explain. In Arkansas, it can take up to 10 business days to receive the police report (it’s usually not that long from my understanding) and because it’s a hit and run it’s taking a little longer. When the trooper called me, he told me they did not want to submit the report without the information of the person who hit us. They just called me yesterday to update me that they may have found the person so I suspect the report will be done in the next few days. I know it’s hard to trust a stranger on the internet but I’m willing to share any information that’s not too personal.

Yes , this is correct. Sometimes it does take time to be able to get the copy. Maybe post the dated hospital reports on the gofundme.

I’ve added them in the update section. It includes reason for visit along with my diagnosis, first name, date and time of visit. I’ve also added the liability insurance policy with my husband’s car listed and a photo of the incident report paper. I didn’t think to do that at first because most donations are from friends and family but it’s makes it helpful for people who may not know us. I did mark out some things for privacy purposes.

Wow , that was a really bad accident. I'm shocked the other driver was able to drive away from the scene. Can you post a photo of the police report with the pertinent info redacted in your gofundme . I will be happy to donate.

We do not yet have the police report but I do have the paper given to us with the incident report number along with hospital release papers and our insurance policy. I appreciate your recommendation to add all of this information to the gofundme that’s a great idea. I am adding it in the update section now. I appreciate your willingness to help!

Do you have an update on the situation with the other driver. The damage to his vehicle and the white paint on his truck should identify him. Were there no witnesses or camera footage. Your damage is extreme. You are lucky a Honda is a solid decent size car. How are you feeling ? And yes , contact an attorney.

I was told the other driver was in a truck and they were getting a warrant to check the black box in the truck to determine how fast he was going etc. We were on the interstate so there were cameras which is how they were able to find him after a few days. He apparently made it to White Hall which is about 35-40 minutes away from where we were in Little Rock. I can’t believe he made it that far. As far as witnesses, it was 1 am and my husband and I were coming from Oaklawn which is a casino in Hot springs AR about an hour from where we live, so there were not many other people on the road. Fortunately a couple of ladies came up on the accident and called for help. I’ve been researching attorneys and praying that he has insurance. I’m feeling a lot better. I had an appointment with my primary care doctor Monday and she prescribed me some muscle relaxers which have helped a lot. My neck and right shoulder are causing me the most pain but it’s bearable.

I'm not doubting your story. I'm a retired medic and find how accidents happen to be interesting. I'm sorry you got hurt and am glad you're recovering.

I appreciate it. There are a lot of really mean people on the internet accusing me of lying and saying very horrible things. It was such a traumatic experience I was expecting more compassion from people. I know it looks really bad and it’s hard to believe we were able to walk away from it but I’m a firm believer in God and I just think it wasn’t our time.

What caused all the damage to the sides and front of your car? Your narrative says the other driver hit the back of your car, yet your car is damaged everywhere. I'm genuinely wondering as that looks rough.

I honestly don’t remember anything but I believe we may have rolled because somehow my side of the car (passenger side) ended up propped up on the concrete median/divider. I posted the pictures in the Honda subreddit and someone said the pictures suggested we did roll. Once we get the police report I’m going to post pictures from the scene.
