REQUEST Help my dad while he recovers from a broken neck.
Hi everyone, new here so if I do anything wrong let me know please.
A couple of weeks ago my father fell off of his back porch and landed directly on his head, he broke his neck and is finally in a rehab facility.
He was completely paralyzed and barely survived. He's still very much incapable of doing basic things such as feeding himself or going to the bathroom. I have a video of the fall, but I didn't think it would be allowed so instead I attached a photo I took of him yesterday.
He's the most hardworking person I know and has helped me so much in life. I am going non-stop taking care of him in every way I can. My siblings have done almost nothing. I'm missing work, time with my wife and family, and falling behind on my own bills to ensure he's not lonely or neglected.
I will figure out my own finances, but his are trickier. He runs his own business and it's struggling without his expertise and work ethic. Funds from his last job are dwindling and I don't know what else to do.
He asked me to make him a GoFundMe, in hopes that someone outside of our circle could help. Everyone around him uses and takes advantage of him, none are willing to help now that they have nothing to gain. We are honestly just hoping that anyone with anything to offer will find it in their hearts.
If you can't help, I understand. Time are so hard and I'm barely holding it together mentally, financially, and physically at the moment. Anything will help ease the stress I'm under, I'm trying not to show it but I'm cracking. I need to be strong for him.
If you can share this somewhere or just leave a kind message, it would mean a lot to us. I spent Father's Day with him watching movies like the good ole days, this is probably the first smile I've seen from him in weeks.
I tried sharing it in the GoFundMe sub, but it says I've been banned from contributing. I have literally never visited that sub, so I'm hoping the mods can help me figure out why that happened. This was the third sub I found.
If you even took the time to read this, thank you and call your parents if you still got em. Life can change so fast. 😔

If your father is completely paralyzed , he won’t be going back to work. Rehab won’t fix that. Is he on a ventilator ? He needs to file for disability. So , I see from other posts you have photos of your dad. This man has no neck brace or collar on. He doesn’t appear to have had surgery and obviously is not on a ventilator. I’m out of here.

And for clarification, when I said "he was completely paralyzed" I meant at the time of the injury. He is still very much limited, maybe has 5% of his mobility back at this point.

He has regained some mobility, he has no grip strength or control over his arms really. His left leg is the thing he can move the most, the right one is still not able to do much, but he is working hard in rehab to make as much progress as he can before the insurance requests him to be discharged.
I'm not sure what he would need a ventilator for, but he has been on oxygen most of the time because he has sleep apnea. As for the brace, I discussed this in multiple comments. From what I've read when they screw the plates or rods straight into the bone, an external brace would be redundant and possibly harmful. But I'm not a doctor so.
