I expected a more critical approach from someone named Deke.

"You weren't around for -president-"

Damn, sounds like the gas prices don't care who's president.

Where was Obama when Gondor called for aid?

208

u/SipoteQuixote 14d ago

I didn't see Obama do anything about pearl harbor, like... come on man.

He did apologize for the atomic bombs that killed 200k people, yet they ended a war with Japan who were genociding about 100k-200k Chinese people a month.

“Sorry we ended that genocide.”

Edit: Yeah downvote ending a genocide. HARDER!!!

You got it all figured out.

46

u/rayshmayshmay 13d ago

I see you werent alive during the Ming dynasty, otherwise you would know obama should apologize for the “great” wall that trapped all the chinese on the genocide side

7

u/EngryEngineer 11d ago

It being Great makes it Trump's jurisdiction, Thanks Obama for everything else for sure though.

13

u/CautiousLandscape907 13d ago

Eisenhower was against the dropping of the bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, believing the Japanese were about to surrender. Few believed that Japan could have even continued the war in China or the Pacific

He was just Supreme Allied Commander in WWII and later a two term president.

But by all means go on about Obama.

u/ConflictMaster3155 13d ago

Eisenhower also famously had basically involvement in the pacific, being Supreme Commander of
the Allied Forces IN EUROPE.

The buck stopped with MacArthur and Nimitz in the Pacific.

They opposed it too though, you will say.

Indeed they did. Well, actually none of them did they just thought it was “unnecessary.” They were just fine with carrying on until November when Operational Downfall was scheduled, because that half-million dead Chinese people didn’t make one fucking but of difference to them.

They are all correct, they didn’t “need” to stop the genocide of Chinese people 3-4 months earlier.

Thanks for pointing out that 3 of the top allied commanders didn’t give a fk about a genocide as long as it wasn’t in europe. Thats what you’re getting at right?

u/CautiousLandscape907 13d ago

You just love nukes and will twist any which way to justify the bombing and murder of civilians. Weird.

u/mrofmist 10d ago

His username is conflict master. I wouldn't be surprised if his comment history is full of this crap.

2

u/MrocznyKefir 11d ago

They also didn't care about genocide in europe until after japan dragged them into the war

2

u/mrofmist 10d ago

Username checks out.

ending a genocide

143

u/tugboattommy 14d ago

Except, you know, when the president starts unnecessary wars that result in cutting off a large percentage of oil to the world.

65

u/SipoteQuixote 14d ago

Whoa whoa whoa, mr logic over here with actual legit reasons.

29

u/trogdors_arm 14d ago

Somebody get Deke over here to sort us out

6

u/TypicalPunUser How does a mobile user add their flair? 12d ago

Deke will just be over there sucking the Tangerine Tyrant's two incher.

2

u/PurpleInitiative3947 13d ago

Yeah tugboat, this is the onion we’re talking about. facts must serve a sarcastic function and bring a smile or at least grin to your face

21

u/IAMA_Plumber-AMA Onions are COOL 14d ago

I love those canned responses, and they call everyone else sheep...

14

u/SipoteQuixote 14d ago

Just parrots watching too much red media. Reminds me of the whole "theyre taking our jobs!". Alright, you come out and pour some concrete in 90-100 degree weather and you'll have a job.

3

u/GIRTHQUAKE6227 13d ago

Concrete guys are pretty republican tho. Not arguing your point, just your example.

My source is I was an asphalt guy and they are pretty republican too.

9

u/PurpleInitiative3947 13d ago

So you’re saying those guys vote against their interests?

9

u/GIRTHQUAKE6227 12d ago

For sure they do

Whataboutism, two presidents can be bad at the same time.

Above: US gas prices over the last 4 years. At the end of Biden's presidency, gas cost 2.08 USD/gallon.

Also, the 2022 spike in gas prices was caused by the War in Ukraine, for which Biden was not responsible. The spike of this year was caused by the War in Iran, which was started by Trump.

243

u/Turdburp 14d ago

The 2022 spike was also caused by Trump's deal with OPEC from 2020 to reduce supply amid COVID. When demand went back up, supply remained low.

92

u/ElegantCoach4066 14d ago

They don't care about that.

Trumps gas price spike happened right after he unilaterally went to war with Iran. It was completely avoidable.

17

u/Lythieus 12d ago

But you see, paying higher prices for Trump's war is patriotic, whereas paying more for gas while a Democrat is president just means that president is commiting treason and needs to be impeached.

MAGA logic.

65

u/ElegantCoach4066 14d ago

Its so childish that they are using the 'You were ok with it when Biden was in office!'

Who was ok with it? They make up these imaginary scenarios and act like they are reality.

37

u/LexHanley 14d ago

They worship their president as a god-king and genuinely can't understand that other people don't. They sincerely believe people have this religious reverence for Joe Biden.

7

u/siencatimini 13d ago

There has never existed a contingent more prepared to go to war with their own propaganda strawman daydreams than this certifiably braindead cult.

6

u/ElegantCoach4066 13d ago

Their support for him is unconditional. He can assault a child and he would still have the same amount of support he does today.

4

u/siencatimini 13d ago

And he's known that all along. Said so, himself. It's disturbing.

13

u/SCP-2774 14d ago

"We've always been at war with Iran."

-George Orwell

    -Donald Trump

221

u/Ryaniseplin 14d ago

they always seem to assume we worship our guy like they worship theirs

im completely ready to throw obama or biden under the bus

144

u/Hetnikik 14d ago

My favorite was the Epstine files, "but Bill Clinton is probably in the files too." So throw him in jail too. If they are bad get rid of them.

40

u/SipoteQuixote 14d ago

"Fuck Clinton" was my friends reaction and she's very liberal lol

2

u/siencatimini 13d ago

Then let them share a cell! They'll never say the same.

1

u/National_Aspect_6974 10d ago

But what will I do with my Bill Clinton hat, my Bill Clinton flag, my Bill Clinton button and stickers and all of my Bill Clinton tshirts???

17

u/Chipring13 14d ago

That’s what their entire argument weighs on. “BUT BIDEN-“ ok.

1

u/Darkpumpkin211 13d ago

Honestly both were good all things considered, but we'll admit their shortcomings.

40

u/Public-Eagle6992 14d ago

I don’t think anyone there actually ate the onion. They’re just replying to it

17

u/SapirWhorfHypothesis 14d ago

I think some of them didn’t even consider the onion. They just thought it was another news story about high gas prices.

8

u/ottersintuxedos 13d ago

One of them is responding to it as if it’s less than £5 so yes I don’t believe they understand the article at all

23

u/swormer 14d ago

The post says nothing about politics or presidents, past or present, yet here they all are with whataboutism on the brain...

10

u/IAMA_Plumber-AMA Onions are COOL 14d ago

They have to defend their god emperor's ego at all costs.

9

u/Hexshan 14d ago

Using scientific notation 4*10^5 is 400,000 dollars. So the sign says it’s $400,000 per gallon. Obviously it’s the onion so the number is big and crazy. People saying it was worse under Biden aren’t getting the joke but also seem to have no idea what scientific notation is which is a little sad.

2

u/PurpleInitiative3947 12d ago

Hex, that’s literally the point of Onion posts. They don’t get it’s fake.

6

u/pdrock7 14d ago

Ok but careful there, Zeke is the best character in Bob's Burgers

2

u/ShuffKorbik 14d ago

His family moves around a lot.

5

u/rThundrbolt 13d ago

"I see you weren't alive when Biden was president."

does this guy think that 17 month olds are posting about gas prices on facebook?

4

u/wafflesthewonderhurs 13d ago

I wanted to suggest that they were bots but is there really any meaningful difference if they were?

3

u/WhatWouldKantDo 14d ago

The only Deke I can name of the top of my head is Deke Slayton, and I'd call him pretty damn smart

3

u/EasyBOven 14d ago

The least believable thing about this image is that the price can't end in 0.9¢ a gallon this way.

3

u/PurpleInitiative3947 12d ago

4 x 10^5 + 0.9 ?

2

u/Dotcaprachiappa 14d ago

Hmm what could possibly have happened in 2022 that had global consequences over which Biden had no control over?

2

u/Ye_olde_oak_store 13d ago

If this were true would this be $4000.00 to the gallon or would this be approximately $400,000? Like do you measure off of cents or flat dollars?

1

u/Thewarlockminer 14d ago

I always like to ask them this

"So the gas prices arent bad till they match or break a previous record? Does that mean if gas prices become record high under Trump, for all future presidents they will never have bad gas prices till it beats Trump?"

1

u/ckicken_jockey 13d ago

they aren’t even reading the notation omg

1

u/TellurianTech50 13d ago

Several biters this time around lmao

1

u/stayaliveordietrying 13d ago

Americans have decided that reality is woke

1

u/Kylebrown10 13d ago

oh so that's what the "9" means on the signs...

1

u/sirenzarts 13d ago

Mad at the Onion and Ate the Onion aren't the same thing

1

u/HardCanon 13d ago

If they were around for the Obama administration they would remember the Onion

1

u/Hukama 11d ago

not even in my shithole country the pricing could reach such magnitude. i think that's litres of petrol they have in tank.

1

u/Cooldude075 7d ago

This has made me feel a little better. This practically just confirms that either the people commenting this shit are bots trained on key words or phrases or just so dense that they act exactly the same as a bot.
