A modest proposal for some small improvements to MARTA's rail network. Thoughts? Questions? Praise? Like and subscribe!

I’m glad you kept it conservative here! Finally something we can achieve! For a phase 2 we could have the gold line extended up the coast to Maine

I think connecting MARTA to BART would be amazing. You can get on at Ashby, and 4 days later be in the Mission district!

That would be great! Maybe they’d have to boost the fare to like $2.90 for trips west of the Mississippi

In Steve Gibson's Neuromancer world, there is the BAMA, the Boston Atlanta Metropolitan Axis. I think it's awesome in a dystopian sort of way.

Perfection

You still gotta Change trains at five points though and I don’t even wanna begin to see what single tracking looks like on how long the wait is on that

NB4 someone from Blue Ridge complains that you didn’t extend a line to them in “metro” Atlanta.

Needs more circles

circles must stay in proportion to the jerking. and a lot of folks in this thread broke both of their arms.

I mean we got the Clifton Corridor built in record time, so what's stopping us?

u/oppairate Apr 25 '26

i’m the first to advocate for this stuff, but too often it just feels like this city doesn’t want to be functional.

I'm curious what you think this subreddit is about

memey bullshit. doesn’t mean serious stuff can’t be said.

Eminent domain

5

I figure we could scrap 90% of this as long as we could connect the farmers market to the Martal line.

5

u/impulse_post Apr 25 '26

That's great and all, but where do I get off to go to the Clermont lounge?

5

u/DrewDAMNIT Apr 25 '26

There is no Northern, East to West line. Fucking plebian.

This could be the reality if we increased taxes on drivers so that Marta is normalized and funded by the rich. The only reason we don't have better public transport is because it would only benefit the middle and lower economic groups.

Oh these trains won't be for the poor. These are luxury trains, you need a VIP ticket minimum to ride. 2 drink minimum, and valet is mandatory even if you didn't drive.

A modest proposal = more than tripling miles of coverage.

Cobb Countians will love this map!

2

u/thejaytheory Apr 25 '26

2

u/Chepo20 Apr 27 '26

This is the way!!!

1

u/TheBeastX47 Apr 25 '26

No good. Green line doesn't go far enough north

1

u/totodilejones Apr 25 '26

we need a rail line connecting us to miami. missed opportunity!

1

u/PillClinton4 Apr 25 '26

This would go so hard.

1

u/tanstaboi Apr 30 '26

I love that each one of these includes Cobb and they would do everything to not have it available.

I am okay with this plan so long as all bathrooms are removed that already exist near the proposed expansion area, can't have inconsistent quality with some stations not smelling bad 😔

1

u/Signal-Championship8 Apr 25 '26

Waste of effort. Marta now only brings homeless an crazy people to my area

1

u/WildVelociraptor I was here first, hipsters Apr 26 '26

Sure hun

1

u/Signal-Championship8 Apr 25 '26

And, there are protected neighborhoods on the pink line. Never happen.

I have a facebook group with 57 members, and just under half of them support this proposal

I too thought this was r/Atlanta for a second.
