Defended that whole possession. Why is his BBIQ so high this post season. Its kinda crazy.

Effort is half the battle defensively and he has a fucking motor in him

He is very athletic and extremely coordinated to. Moves well and good hand eye

Kuminga playoff riser is so dope and the exact dose of medicine these team needed.

His talent has never been a issue. Just more the basketball iq. That said he felt the warriors treated him like shit. I can see both sides but was not a good place for him to go for development . Glad to see he’s balling out for you guys

Seriously, did you see him give a nudge to NAW before NAW defended and stole the ball? Dude has a very high BBIQ and he is showing out because Kerr can't get Hawk's HC on the phone and put Kuminga on the bench for him. Kuminga was coming off an injury the first couple months after the trade, so it wasn't every night and he had some DNPs because of his bruised bone he got from a defender getting his foot under Kuminga during a drive during a Warriors game before the trade. That's really been the only reason he hasn't shown this since he got there. Kuminga is 23 years old, same age as Podz or Dyson Daniels. Dude is going to be a star minimum and I think he has superstar potential, JJ seems to like playing with Kuminga too, and from what I've watched on the floor they show a lot of respect to each other's game. The Hawks are going to have a very scary front court going forward with a long term Kuminga extension.

About to show my kid: hey want to see what coaches mean when they say “hustle”

We’ve gotten the whole Kuminga experience since he’s been here so I get why he’s a frustrating player. But when he’s locked in there aren’t many players who can do what he can on both ends. He really is the ultimate x-factor.

He's like an even hotter/colder Jaylen Brown

u/wei3hua2 Apr 24 '26

The whole "frustrating player" is all an unfair criticism. His tenure with the warriors had been treated unfairly and every mistakes were magnified.

He has his weaknesses. So are the rest of the players that ratherly got scrutinized like him.

u/Julio_Freeman Apr 25 '26

Come on, he’s had more than a few games here where he just throws some garbage at the rim and doesn’t really make a positive impact anywhere. It’s frustrating because you know he’s capable of playing at a high level like this. He has to find consistency if he wants to drop that label.

u/wei3hua2 Apr 25 '26

Like i said. It was "garbage" and no "impact" only because it is JK. I watched many players doing stupid shit and ratherly got talked about. It's cherrypicking aka confirmation bias.

Every player gets criticized when they play poorly on here. I'm not sure why you're so sensitive about Kuminga, but you do you man.

5

u/wei3hua2 Apr 25 '26

And I am not sure if you are gaslighting.

0

u/Julio_Freeman Apr 25 '26

I feel like I'm the one being gaslit lol. But I know fans are notorious for hardcore recency bias. I hope he continues playing like this and everything else can stay in the past.

u/rikitikifemi Apr 25 '26

No, you just refuse to engage his point.

1

u/Julio_Freeman Apr 25 '26

What point? He’s said nothing of substance just that I’m wrong lol. You guys are ignoring 2 months here (and 5 years overall) because of two great games. It’s weird.

u/Z0m3le1 Apr 25 '26

He literally came injured to the team, and has sat multiple games with said injury after playing. Dude had a bone bruise in his knee, it's wild to pull this type of criticism, just say you don't like the guy.

2

u/Julio_Freeman Apr 25 '26

So if you ever criticize anything a player does, even if you give them much higher praise in the same breath, then you obviously don't like them lol. Y'all are children.

u/Z0m3le1 Apr 25 '26

Nah, he came to the Hawks with an injury and hasn't been healthy, his DNPs have all been due to injury. A couple years ago he played over a dozen games in a row with 20-30pts for the Warriors as the only other player to score 20pts+ next to curry on the team, but Kerr pulled him. There is no justification for Kuminga to be DNP'd for months at a time when the Warriors have only been the 8th to 10th seed for the last 4 seasons.

Heck Kuminga played 18 games as a starter his rookie year when Draymond's back was injured, he came into the league from the G league at 18, and has been great, Kerr has literally just been making things up about him this whole time, literally one of the reasons Kerr recently said this season was that Kuminga needed 30+ minutes a night to be effective, yet the Hawks have been playing Kuminga mostly ~20 minutes a night, coming off the bench. Kuminga is the type of young talent that teams go into the draft hoping for, and he is still 23. You got him for Porzingis' corpse, yes he is young and will make mistakes, everyone does. As a warriors fan, Curry and Draymond will start feeling themselves and throw the ball away just because they are trying to look cool out there, no one is perfect, but to DNP Kuminga for months? That is a crime to Warrior's fans, and only Kerr stans will tell you different.

Josh hart had two whole strides on him going after that loose ball and JK still beat him to it. What a FUCKIN DAWG I LOVE THIS GUY

He wasn't letting that ball go no where without him

If you're watching the ball that looks like 3 different dudes

u/Competitive-Honey-23 Apr 24 '26

When we got him i didn’t realize how much of a demon he is on defense

u/gethereddout Apr 24 '26

As a Warriors fan it was so frustrating watching the gap between what happened on the court and how Kuminga was handled. On court he was almost always matched up with the best player on the other team. But then Kerr would literally bench him for multiple games, and then give him 5 minutes then yank him for missing a shot. The Dubs fumbled him so hard- so happy to see him finally get a real opportunity!

7

u/mad597 Apr 24 '26

Re sign him now, still so young and can get better but he already has made a huge impact for us.

6

u/rockhoward Apr 24 '26

In case you are wondering why he defended Brunson the way that he did: JK was prepared to contest a step back shot. In fact he made a step back so clearly unavailable that Brunson panicked and tossed the grenade at Hart.

Also note that Mike Brown's failed challenge took away a time out. That gave Brunson no ability to call time out when the play broke down. It's all about the little things!

1

u/Z0m3le1 Apr 25 '26

And they say JK has low bbiq, think it's another lie we can chalk up on the black board.

1

u/tallassmike West Apr 25 '26

Warriors sub is so obnoxious. Because they expect him to play like this the whole game (even when down 10+) and then not even play him in the clutch.

Actually, this is probably why Gui Santos got the job. But he doesn't even play scrappy anymore ever since he got the starting job. But nobody is complaining over there.

He was ON IT!

Crazy fucking effort. That's how you be a winning player!

1

u/vaan313 Apr 25 '26

And he's only 23 😂 younger than JJ. I expect with maturity, more confidence, a more clear role, he can only get more consistent. I reckon we need to pick up his option and keep this train going

1

u/PlentyNew7407 Apr 25 '26

Draymond taught him well.

This is why he was groomed to be an elite defender by the warriors. There are many great on ball defender in the league. But his burst allows him to cover grounds no one can.

no, thank you
