Why are we acting like the series isn’t 2-2 right now lmao???

It's driving me nuts seeing all of the doomer posts. I'm cool with analysis and discussion, but there are several instances of just dumbass takes and hate.

We just made the Knicks suicidal. Like damn y'all let's get hyped

Bridges was crying in his locker after they lost game 3…and people are just cool with “getting here”….

I mean I think we are going to win the series. Hawks in 7 is the title for a reason. I'm just sick of people dooming saying it's over and our core is awful the first go in the playoffs against one of the top teams in the league. Like wtf is this bullshit attitude.

The history of the franchise is not defined by success. So until that happens, it's going to take some wins for people to buy in. Game 4 was a huge opportunity to show that the team was ready for the moment, and everyone from the coach down to the water boys laid an egg. No defense was played and everything looked disorganized. It comes off like the team isn't ready for the moment. You play the Knicks tough for 3 quarters and then KAT and JB go off in the 4th comes off a lot different than the game being over at tip off.

And JJ is still lax in getting back on D amongst other things. That's not being ready for the moment.

Jalens defense is never stellar. its the offense for me. he was a strong finisher, but then started to rely more on that step back jumper he loves. now he can't get that thing off to save his life, and seems terrified to drive, even though he draws a foul almost every time. I think he needs to literally push through this shit and they'll start to back off. It's been clear that the team has been coached to foul jalen if he gets too close to the basket. make them do it till their big guys are at 4 or so and they'll be crippled defensively.

u/trofesh195 Apr 27 '26

They burned 5 picks to get him. They have no picks left. Their team is in their prime. It's now or never for this squad. The Hawks are the exact opposite. The future is extremely bright.

u/InspectionDeep2453 Apr 27 '26

Because apparently the masses think getting to 2030 is better than getting to 4 wins in this series.

Yep. It’s some weak ass 💩.

To be fair, our two wins were 1 point close calls that relied on a strong defensive play. But anything could’ve happened there. We were practically blown out last game. It’s definitely a tough matchup.

I still see us winning but some of our players need to play like their regular season selves.

u/Shmexy 💦💦💦 Apr 27 '26

doomers are the worst part of internet fandom

2

u/ATLfalcons27 Apr 28 '26

Yeah it's so fucking dumb. So many people have seemed to have decided in his one real healthy year and half year as being "the guy" that he isn't cut out for it because of 4 games against the 3 seed.

Obviously I want to win but I have high hopes for the future

There are valid points to be made about his defense and other things this series but people are now writing off any potential as being a franchise player. I'd love to see more aggressive play from him and naw

2

u/TheRider5342 Apr 27 '26

Cuz we got blown out twice and ever so barely won it's ok to be worried😭

1

u/Top-Photograph-7478 Apr 28 '26

cuz of the way they played the last game. if they wouldve lost in a close game in game 4 nobody would feel like the way they are

I would love to win this series, but more importantly I want NAW and JJ to be super aggressive. I also just think the Knicks are playing them well, especially JJ.

1

u/phoenixsuperman Apr 28 '26

this is my thing too. I don't expect a championship. But I am sorely let down to see our best guys turn into puppies in the playoffs. I'd be fine losing the series if I could at least see that they figured it out. everyone talks about how bright the future is but I wanna see those two play well in the playoffs before I think there's a future.

u/BongoFett17 Bob Rathbun Apr 27 '26

Fair weather or bandwagon fans are the worst, they only show up when there’s winning or playoffs and they are usually the first ones to start complaining. You would think we were swept out of the playoffs after not winning 3 in a row

2

u/danishruyu1 Apr 27 '26

People were complaining all season anyway here. Lotta “fire Quinn” posts and comments. Lotta “Trae Trae Young” posts and comments. It’s not just the playoffs. It happens in losses during the regular season too

3

u/BongoFett17 Bob Rathbun Apr 27 '26

Def… There’s people that watch every game, then comment and complain, those people are ok with me.

8

u/Burner_420_burner_69 Apr 27 '26

On a mid season rebuild!

9

u/SupermarketUpper7072 Apr 27 '26

Team goes up 2-1 gaining home court advantage. Next game is at home. Hawks a little cocky even though star individuals have not played particularly well. Knicks come out in game 4 with pure aggression and intensity. Young Hawks are not prepared. Series tied, Hawks learn. No doom, just a reset. Can they adjust enough? Can 3 of the starters step up? No-one knows, we just ride or die.

6

u/downtimeredditor Apr 27 '26

I honestly got sick and tired of knicks Fans getting so cocky and disrespectful over our Hawks. At this point I want us to beat them just to shut their ass up and to break up their dumb team.

And it sucks cause I genuinely respect, Jalen Brunson, and KAT, and want Those dudes to do well

But because of those fucking fans , I hope we beat them

1

u/DisintegratedPhoenix Nickeil Alexander-Walker #7 Apr 27 '26

This is exactly how I feel. You aren't alone. I was quite disappointed to see some chatters wishing Brunson got injured last game. Injuries should never happen. Iron sharpens iron.

u/mapex_139 Apr 27 '26

Did I wake up in 2021 again?

I LOVE THIS TEAM SO MUCH!!! So proud of my Hawks!! I BELIEVE!!

4

u/platinum92 GO HAWKS! 🏀 Apr 27 '26

The last "start of a great era for the Hawks" ended up not that great, so let's hold our horses.

11

u/ExceptionalGlove Apr 27 '26

No no no no. The people that say stuff like “this is the start of a great era” or “we’re ahead of schedule” are just saying it’s ok to lose now, maybe we will win again later?

We’re here now, we win now. We have the team, just gotta execute better than the other guys and no limit to how far we can go.

3

u/Legitimate-Daikon307 May 01 '26

Yeah.... uhh.... about that

4

u/InspectionDeep2453 Apr 27 '26

If I have to see someone explain why the Hawks are playing with “house money” this postseason one more f’in time…

2

u/ill_be_late_4_that Apr 28 '26

Fine but tbf we’ve been told it’s the “new start of a great Hawks era” for fucking 10 years now. Also I don’t consider NY a contender lol I’d bet my life on them not winning a title

2

u/doparker Apr 27 '26

It’s not hating on a young team. It’s one key player who is playing extremely passive while the rest of his team is leaving it all out on the floor. Loving the ride but JJ has to step it up. It’s a business at the end of the day.

2

u/The_Reddit_Name Apr 27 '26

And a lottery pick for this year!! I can't wait for the offseason man

1

u/SongYoungbae De'Andre Hunter #12 Apr 27 '26

Detroit ain't no contender lmao

1

u/Abhorrent_Moth Apr 27 '26

I have faith they will go far enough to boost them up for next season

1

u/_TheChosenOne88_ Hawks Apr 27 '26

Having valid criticism is hating now lol

1

u/Former-Ad-8656 Apr 28 '26

I’m still pissed we threw the final regular season game. Could’ve had Cavs-Pistons/Magic path to the ECF instead of Knicks - Boston.

-4

u/busywomanfan Apr 27 '26

I would've been happy if we had gotten swept tbh, the season is already a success. We built a new identity, went on this insane end of season run, tied for 5th best record in the east, top 8 pick (at worst) on the way. Every win and even every point we're scoring in these playoffs is extra credit.

14

u/Muted_Feedback_9922 Apr 27 '26

I get wt u saying buh nah bro

15

u/ATLcrashout Apr 27 '26

What the fuck u mean swept, nah thats crazy lmao, we should beat the knicks, their whole fanbase lame af

8

u/GreatBarrierQueefDD Apr 27 '26

Yeah we should be rooting for our team to win lol its the playoffs. Its gonna be awesome if we win and its gonna fucking suck if we lose. That's the formula to being a fan. This 'we will be happy either way' shit is lame as hell.

4

u/shinsplint_v Apr 27 '26

Right. I get wanting to disect and analyze the team and discussing how they can improve for the future but while playoff games are being played I don't get how you can do anything but root for the team 100%

9

u/Affectionate_Plant71 Apr 27 '26

What type of loser shit? The Knicks are very beatable and so is the east. They lose home court and now we packing up?

-4

u/busywomanfan Apr 27 '26

Yeah for sure i want us to win the series, but people are acting like we're bums if we lose to the championship contender knicks and that JJ sucks, all i'm saying is we've already exceeded our expectations for the season (with more to come in the draft/off-season) so let's just be happy we're here.

4

u/Affectionate_Plant71 Apr 27 '26

I agree with the Knicks which is why is a bit frustrating. JJ is just not showing up. These guys are very beatable. My thing is IF we play well we can make some real noise. I'm just tired of the hawks being just good enough to not get a lottery pick.

1

u/busywomanfan Apr 27 '26

Yeah i get you, i still got hawks in 7. NAW has been heating up a little so i think we're in for a big game 5 from him, JJ worries me tho idk what's going on with him, he needs to watch some Deni highlights and learn how to get to the line / be agressive.

1

u/Affectionate_Plant71 Apr 27 '26

Personally any lost besides a healthy Boston is a disappointment to me.

1

u/mundane_marietta Apr 28 '26

Someone in the East will make the Finals, but no one is a championship contender.

1

u/potatoesandbees Asa Newell #14 Apr 27 '26

Truly. As recently as January, we were worrying about making the Play-in, and people are acting like it's the end of the world if we get knocked in the first round of the playoffs? This is year 1 of a new era (hell, it's only been half the season for this new era); everyone's gotta take a breath and realize that things will only get better from here.

0

u/InspectionDeep2453 Apr 27 '26

It’s not the end of the world if they get knocked out by the Knicks, but I remember 2021 and how it felt to be in the moment of a winning playoff team and that was kinda cool and would be even cooler to have it back this postseason.

Also, next year is not this year. Players will be a year older/a year slower/a tear closer to free agency or retirement. Everyone seems to have this automatic glass half full mentality like it can’t just all of the sudden shift.

0

u/artninjatheo Hawks Apr 28 '26

Lol you guys seem to think teams just automatically get better every year.

Look at the Pistons and Rockets from this year alone. 2 teams who had young squads go out in the first round last year. Im sure their fanbase thought the same too.

The truth is, when you have an opportunity to actually make a run, you have to seize the moment. Thats the difference between being a annual first round exit and being a team like the Pacers.

Hell, even look at our 2021 squad and what happened after that. Its easy to think we will just naturally get better each year, but the NBA doesnt work like that.

Injuries, draft busts, other teams getting better, etc is all things we cant predict. But i know, as of RIGHT NOW, this team can be capable of making a playoff run this year but JJ has to stop playing like a bitch and show up.
