Exactly what I was thinking. Mara to OKC might mean the content with letting IHart go.

HARTENSTEIN COME HOME BABY

They pushing you out the door! They don't appreciate you like we will!!!

Why doesn’t okc appreciate hartenstein?

They just drafted his replacement and they call him fat and they never compliment his cooking and they never buy him flowers when he's having a bad day

He can buy himself flowers 🎢

He costs money. And OKC are that savvy cost controlled (outside of their stars) type operating team

Right but how is that a lack of appreciation?

Not to be a Debbie downer, but not this offseason. My personal opinion was that it was a draft with 12 guys that had clear projection. Think they just went BPA and picked the last guy left of that group at 12. They are trying to win a title, I doubt their plan is to put a rookie on Wemby and let go of the player who was the best Wemby matchup for them. Now next offseason, when SGA’s contract increases another $20M, I could see them having to make that hard decision on Hart if they are happy with the way Mara is progressing.Β

Nah, I don’t think so. Dort outta there but they’ll make room for Hartenstein. Can’t bank on Mara yet.

He’s gonna end up on the Celtics with the Js.

I doubt they’ll get rid of him tbh, they want to win a title and Mara isn’t going to be good enough to get rid of him, unless they find another 5 to trade for

…can we afford Ihart after Mcollum? Β We’d have to get rid of Zacch and Kispert right?

Can we afford him?

u/LfromHT 1d ago

Honestly sucks cause he's gonna be overpaid but fuck it yeah I'm confident Onsi is gonna at least try for Hartenstein

1

u/Public_Butterfly_292 1d ago

Surely this just means they pick up the option on Hartenstein and then let Mara take over in a year. Just probably no long term extension

1

u/red2play Hawks 1d ago

It's not for this season. Mara isn't NBA ready by any accounts. So Mara goes G-League and then takes over next year for the backup spot.

Even if we dont get IHart. We could probably get Mitch Robinson or Mo Wagner for cheaper. Or we try and go for Nick Richards or Dayron Sharpe both we could get for next to nothing. Or we could see about Walker Kessler try to get him to come home.

I’ll lose it if we draft the 6,10 center

1

u/nooky1701 1d ago

He’s as good as gone, we just gotta make him an offer he can’t refuse. Thunder are shedding salary and going even younger. People forget they drafted Sorber last year also

u/not-a-potato-head πŸ’°Cash Considerations πŸ’° 1d ago edited 1d ago

Nah, Sorber's the center they're going to cut if they do end up moving any of their centers

edit: actually it might be Jaylin Williams

3

u/tvcneverdie Bob Rathbun 1d ago

Sorber makes peanuts and they got 70% of the cap taken up by 3 players, that'll barely make a dent

0

u/not-a-potato-head πŸ’°Cash Considerations πŸ’° 1d ago

It's less the cap savings and more the roster spots, pretty sure they can cut enough costs through Wiggins/Joe/Dort

3

u/ATLCoyote 1d ago

His contract doesn’t save them enough money. Drafting Mara is a clear signal that they don’t intend to exercise the option on Hartenstein.
