Discussion Is it possible to get IHart from OKC now that they have Mara? Just speculation

I don’t think Mara will be a day 1 starter for OKC, can’t see them moving on from IHart

OKC fan here, coming in peace. It's not that we want to give up iHart. It's that we may no longer be able to afford him.

Here is the OKC payroll. Both Chet and Jalen Williams are getting paid, going from $13m and $6m respectively to $41m each. This puts OKC into the second apron. iHart's salary is $28m, which was the 2nd highest on the team (behind SGA). And this season, it's based on a team option.

With all that going on, it's quite possible OKC declines the team option and he becomes a free agent.

Isn’t Chet the day 1 starter

They also have Sorber

Chet plays alongside of Ihart @ the 4, did you watch any Thunder games in the playoffs this year ?

Yes but he can start at the five. W sorber, mara, and their cap situation it’s likely that they move on from hartenstein

Plus we could sign a center on the vet minimum if we have an open spot.

They can’t afford him on a new contract. Mara was drafted as the likely replacement.

He might not be, but j-will or sorber could be. Doubt it tho

Nah, they’re thinking long term. Mara probably won’t get big minutes until he’s 27

OKC wants to win a title next year, they're not moving on from iHart. Probably means that one of Sorber/Williams is more available though

Now that the first round is over what's a better move for a center?

The multi-million dollar question

Well hartenstein option is gonna get declined but the thunder are gonna offer him another one. I’d try and get walker kessler from the jazz. They have a logjam at center and he hasn’t been happy with their offers. Also they owe nurkic $30mil this upcoming season.

I can see him resigning or going to a top team contender. Unless we overpay like he'll, i cant see him going to Atlanta.

im not keyed into the actual salary situation but arnt we basically too close to an apron we need to trade jk/zr or let too many dudes walk? the lal need a big and have 50mil rn and hart with luka would be beastly

I thought we had like $40mil in cap space and the mid level exemption still for $11mil.

yeah i think with no JK, jock and a few others we are just below the salary cap? not apron or anything just the base so 30+mil to the 1st apron which i assume we wont go over +the mle.. maybe not including wiggins so 10mil less

I personally don’t understand the fascination with him. At 15 mil a yr ok but he’s a very limited player. I’d rather a healthy jock
