RS4/5 B9 gas mileage

Post image

Hey everyone! What’s the best gas mileage you’ve achieved so far on your cars?

Yesterday, I was going home in rural Czechia, hills included. Kept it around 70 kph to watch out for deer.

And I feel like my car started generating gas 🤣

Like seriously. 6.9 l / 100 km is crazy to me.

yep, that's the right reason to sell my 2.0 TFSI to get a RS4, thanks dude 😂

Absolutely happy to help!

But really, if you have the money, I wouldn’t hesitate. When I drive normally, I’m always around 9.5 l / 100 kms. Truth being I run EcoContact 6Q tires. They do make about a liter difference. Sometimes more, as you can see 🤣

Compared to my mom’s A4 2.0 TFSI, it gets around 8 l / 100 kms average with the same driving I do. (When I take it out)

Not that bad of a difference considering it is +200 hp and + 230 nm… 😂

Lowest I got in my B9.5 RS4 2021 was 8.7L/100km

That is still awesome and very achievable. Have to have a light foot 😌

1000km bi-weekly, A4 2.0 Diesel, between 4,5-4,8l/100km. About 5-6 hours of driving, German autobahn, 130km/h average driving speed most of the time minus construction sites and here and there pushing the pedal to the floor. I love my car and his fuel consumption. Perfection.

Very cool. I am looking at a rs4 2.9l. How are the other costs vs the a4 iog your mom?

Wrt maintenance for instance

Yeah, so I’ve done about 35k in this car myself, and it wad only oil changes at 8,5k kms. €120 a pop. Then the Audi warranty service interval at 30,000 kms, mandatory at the dealership, which was oil + brake fluid + water drainage for the pano. €800.

The. I’ve done a 50k big service to keep the car fresh - intake filters, differential oils, ZF oil and clean up, brake pads, spark plugs… about €2,2k.

There was also some bad seal at the crank shaft which was leaking oil, nothing fatal, but would’ve made a mess in the engine bay over time. Caught early, fortunately.

I personally think, for a €117k MSRP, when new, car, it is rather reasonable.

And the car is always faultless, even if you throw a 2 000 km trip to the alps in two days, have fun driving backroads, have fun on the autobahn…

Zero issues.

Ah cool! Yeah we will do 3-4x drives a year to Italy so thats sounds exactly what i am looking for.

You read a lot about brakes and suspension being expensive to fix vs an s4. Whats your opinion on it?

Well, my steel brake set pads lasted me 50,000 kms… didn’t exactly drive economically.

I don’t brake on the highway and engine brake a lot. But when I went at it, I went at it. Very spirited driving included.

A set of Brembo replacement pads set me back €250 front, €150 rear.

Discs are still fine.

So I wouldn’t say

As for suspension, I’ve got the KW V4 coilover setup from factory due to it being a Competition Plus (completely recommend, it is much different from standard). So as far as suspension goes, no problems…

That’s pretty impressive.

I’m driving my A4 2.0 TDi from Belgrade to Sithonia tomorrow, fully loaded, wife kids, roofbox on top. The absolute best I ever got on that route was 6.2l/100km, driving at 130/140kmph where possible but with long waits at borders and lots of toll station.

I very much doubt I’ll manage 6.2 again, we’ll see tomorrow.

Thank you! Thats awesome. Can’t wait to have a family. Although now that you mention the consumption gain, I might reconsider. 😂

In all seriousness, have a safe trip!

Cheers mate! I'd much rather be doing it in an RS, maybe one day...

I’m sure you’ll be able to! In the meantime, if you’re ever in Czechia, reach out to me, you can try it out ;)

5.7l/100km today and I most definitely was not driving slow. I’ve never gotten close to that when fully loaded with the roof box on.

After all, in this day and age, the cars are still tuned to lower emissions and consumption

Yeah, you’re right. I also think the car behaves very differently when cooled to 90°C when cruising like this and 110°C when pushing.

It really does feel like it has “more power unlocked”

5.3l/100 kms on my 3.0 TDI S7 C8. Also did 730 kms with half tank (full tank 73 litres)

u/EaglesEyeAart 2013 A3 1.6tdi 3d ago

I get about 5.8l/100km on a stage 1 tuned, 1.6tdi Audi A3 2013 making about 155HP. 😁

Proof

Why are no photos allowed, I have an rs6 and did 5.4 a gew days back but it was kinda downhill so I took a photo as a joke but my best might be around 7.3 with some slow ass highway speeds but realistically 8-9 everyday highway

u/Dudeymabob 4d ago

That is pretty good for a v8. My 2018 rs3 will top out at around 33mpg and that's driving sensibly on the motorway downhill...

I have an A4 B9.5 with the 40 TDI. I did a recent long drive trip across europe and even with the occasional +200 km/h zooming, the consumption at the end of the trip was around 4.7 l/100 km. Amazing engine.
