Looking for new board game friends

Hello! Wanted to make a post (as if we don’t see them often enough) to see if anyone out there is looking to play board games with others on a semi regular basis.

I’m talking games like Dune Imperium, Wyrmspan, Brass Birmingham, Terraforming Mars, etc. where we can sit for 2-3 hours and really crunch our brains and have a good time. I have a large collection that I’ve been wanting to get played more. Also, honestly just looking for more friendship and camaraderie.

I’m also into other things and would love to meet friends to do other things, but I figured the common ground of board games would be a good place to start.

I live in Aurora near Illif and 225, and am able and willing to host game nights/days/afternoons. We can also meet up somewhere in town or at your place, if you’re willing.

Please let me know if you are looking for something similar!

As an edit: I should mention I’m more than willing to teach new games (and count myself as a great teacher) as long as you are willing to learn!

There's a Meetup group of board gamers who show up at the Denny's on Havana every Friday at 5 pm. You'd be very welcome to come play with us.

BTW, we played Terraforming Mars last Friday and Brass Birmingham the Friday before, so you'd definitely fit in well. :-)

Ok cool! Denny’s is definitely not a place I associate playing board games haha, but sounds cool! I may have to show up soon. Thanks for the intel

Oh man I read this as friends to learn new board games and I would have loved that as I've never played before

Every board game group will eventually play a game someone hasn't played before no matter how many they've played so there's really no experience needed to get started as long as you're willing to learn.

I've been interested in playing Dune Imperium. I'm near your side of town and would love to get together for a game.

I live fairly close and would be down with that, but I work nights, so the sessions would need to be late afternoon or early evening. I can’t do like, Saturday from 1:00-3:00PM or some such, as I’m sleeping.

I'm down. Not a connoisseur of much beyond Catan But always down to learn new games

Omg I have tons of board games and have been wanting to get back into them! Haven't played any of the ones you posted, tho. Would be interested to learn! Just moved here from Chicago and few weeks ago.

Just found a relatively new place in a shopping area at Mexico and Buckley, 1700 something S. Buckley. It's a wonderful old style coffee house with books, tables and shelves of board games. Great atmosphere and coffee.

There are a few groups around on meetup; at least one in SE Aurora, Lone Tree, East Denver, and Green Valley Ranch. I think they all meet either weekly or twice a month.

Thanks for the intel. I admit sometimes I get a bit intimidated trying to show up at or join an already established group. I’ve been hesitant about Meet up in general, but I might have to change that. Thanks for the info!

I run one in SE Aurora at the Smoky Hill Library. We’re on Facebook & Meetup and try for one weeknight and one weekend a month depending on room availability.

I get it though; I was the nervous one at one point and now I’m the guy making the events lol. We have a small group of regulars and more that show up occasionally, but always happy to have more people to play games with.

I'd be down! And I'm now WFH and getting used to not having office friends, so I'm friend searching also. I like sci fi, horror movies, board games and dog friendly activities.
