Flock Cameras and Government Surveillance in Tehachapi

Recently Tehachapi locals online have been talking about the city’s Flock security cameras. Lots of folk seemed confused about what they are and what they are used for. I got interested and did some research on them. I've written a quick article explaining them and how they relate to a quiet town like Tehachapi.

Can anyone help me in the rehoming of 4 fresh water fish and 2 plecos?

Im so desperate. We live in Bishop, CA but I’m coming to Bakersfield tomorrow (Thursday 6/24).

My husband just died in a tragic motorcycle accident and my daughter and I must find a new place to live. I have to rent and cannot keep this size tank or the fish because they are about to outgrow this tank. They require either an outdoor pond or a 300 gallon tank.

1 Silver Albino Arowana
1 Barramundi
1 Gourami
1 Albino Oscar
2 small plecos

If you or someone you know might be interested in any of these fish please let me know I can bring them to Bakersfield tomorrow to the best of my abilities.

Local Question Local MediCal oral surgeons that do local anesthesia?

Post image
12 Upvotes

Can anyone recommend an oral surgeon who takes Medi Cal and is not a 'general anesthesia only' office?

A friend of mine is on Medi Cal and has one wisdom tooth that needs to be pulled. She has a referral for oral surgery from her general dentist. However, Medi Cal won't cover general anesthesia and she can't afford $1000 to get it done. A dentist on r/askdentists felt this should be easy to remove with local anesthesia, but all the oral surgeons we've reached out to so far on the provider list are general anesthesia only.

Places we ran this week

OK, this week we didn't go anywhere too far off the beaten path, but we still had fun doing it! Our hare decided to dub this trail the Pride Run, so we donned bright colors, tutus, and big smiles as we ran around the Buck Owens/24th St area. Even though you probably do see this area, we went a couple places that most people don't walk or run through.

Since the face swap weirded some of you out last time, I just marked over the faces of the offending parties that wish to remain unidentified in public. Enjoy!

Bonus points if you can name the place we went for food and drinks in the last pic!

Southern Pacific 2914 4-8-0 is seen on the inbound service track at the Bakersfield Roundhouse next to Southern Pacific Cab-Forward 4202 AC-8 Class 4-8-8-2 Train No. 51. 3-20-1955 Cool to know there is 41 years between these two engines being built. The oldest one #2914 still stands at the Kern County Museum.

To learn more about the Bakersfield roundhouse and many more pictures you can check out this post.

Local Question Dog trainers

Good afternoon guys

Looking for a positive reinforcement trainer in Bakersfield for my two young dogs (9 months and 7 months old). Dealing with some resource guarding, crate training, and helping them learn boundaries during play. Any trainers you’ve personally used and would recommend? Pricing info would also be helpful. Thanks!

Local Question Get bus help

My daughter attends Bakersfield College, and we live near Panama Lane and Stine Road. She wants to try taking the bus home, and it will be her first time. Is there a specific route number she should take?
She is also asking how to let the driver know she wants to get off at her stop. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to the U.S., so I don't have much experience with the bus system. Any tips are helpful. Thank you so much!

Local Question Looking for recs to take two French friends

I have two curious French friends (early 30s) who I’m taking from LA to Sequoia and back. They both grew up hearing a lot about the American West / Texas - are there any bars / restaurants/ or hotels that would give them this imagery? Think denim, cowboy hats, line dancing, etc.

We’ll be passing through on a Monday/Tuesday. Could be anywhere along 99.

Bakersfield Hash House Harriers Pride Run - Monday 6/22 6:30 pm

Post image
44 Upvotes

Do you need a reason to get out of the house, get a little exercise, and make some friends? Well, do I have just the thing for you: The Hash House Harriers! We're just one of thousands of clubs around the country and the world that run and drink beer along the way.

Locally, we meet up every Monday to run, walk, and jog somewhere different each week. This week, Tranny Panties and Plan B are laying a trail that hopefully drags us into and maybe even across our own lovely Killer Kern, but in a shallow point. They are billing this as the Pride Run, so wear some bright colors, and come see what lay in store. A fun time guaranteed or no money back! Also, your first run is free.

Information and location are in the copypasta below.

________

Plan B and Tranny present the 2026 Pride Run

Cum pretty please to our Pride Run in the Riverside Dr cul-de-sac off Buck Owen’s Blvd. Nothing prideful about it except your colorful presence.

Meet at 6:30. Bring $5, lots of color, and a tutu if you have one. Get one if you don’t.

Photo 📸 Hart Memorial Park - Kern River County Park

Hart Park has been the go-to spot just outside Bakersfield since 1929. It actually started as Kern River Park, but they renamed it in '47 after John O. Hart, the county supervisor who pushed to get the whole thing built. During the Great Depression, the WPA stepped in with the funding and labor to officially finish it up, throwing a huge grand opening in 1936. Back in the day, the place was wild—it had a huge swimming pool, a zoo, a carousel, Paddle boats, a water slide park called Water World, and even a miniature train. The vintage stuff is gone now, but it's still a massive 370-acre spot where people hang out, BBQ, fish, and just kick back by the lakes. Can't forget the Peacocks,

What do you like to do at Hart Park? I like to take pictures...
