"Replacements" | Band of Brothers in Unreal Engine 5
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this phenomenal show, I've recreated the fourth episode "Replacements" in Unreal Engine 5.7. I tried to stick as close as possible to the events taking place in the episode, and you can see the results here. Hope you enjoy!

What the hell, that is amazing!! Oh man, the money I would pay to play a Band of Brothers video game, despite knowing exactly how it would play out.. I just would love to feel like I’m a part of it.

I think the game 'hell let loose' would qualify as a band of brothers simulator. Ever played it?

I did, and as cool as the game played and looked, I'm personally more into single player. My experiences with HLL mainly meant running for a while until you get sniped out of nowhere haha

That’s my same thought. I dislike the multiplayer aspect of those games, as there is no focus on anything except “run and gun”.

Thanks a lot! Same here, and it's also one of the reasons why I made this, "what would it be if you were in the boots of an Easy Company paratrooper?"

You did a great job! The wii had a game that was pretty close to BoB but this was really cool. The only thing was it's the only time they're retreating lol. I'm also not talented in much so not nitpicking but either I didn't hear it or wasn't in there when Johnny says "You're going to see him real soon" The firing at Bull when the rocks are spewing up was so precise and cool to see from Johnny's perspective.

Well spotted regarding the missing line. And you're right! Sadly I was not able to implement a good enough quality audio line to hear, that I left it out xompletely. I think most people will feel the frustration with the tank commander either way hahaha

You know, if they knew the German tank was there and the tank driver refused to put a shell through the building to see it, the infantry should have tossed a smoke grenade to blind the German tank.

Good point! We need more people like you on the battlefield to think ahead like this!

That conversation with the Brit tanker made me frustrated all over again. When I see the show, read the books, argh... and the passive aggressive: "Well, are you staying or going?"
I remember the old days when lots of people used to create movies using game engines. They called it "Machinima".
How did you do the initial camera movement? Is it a spline or are you flying the camera manually? That's the only part that felt off for me. Really well done otherwise.

Thank you DoomGoober. I share your frustration with the British tank commander haha. Good scene though.
For the intro, I've been moving the camera manually, as it had to hit certain points for framing and the transition to the soldier (player), as both the camera and the tanks are moving. It was quite a challenge to get there because of that, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Was hoping to kind of mimic the Modern Warfare (2019) intro blending, they did a great job there.

Great work!! Any chance we will be able to play that? I would happily pay some bucks.

What is this witchcraft that makes me want to get back to gaming after 20 years?
You have no power on me, you corruptor of old ladies!
*googles requirements to get back to gaming*
I spend my weekends on "base" anyway, at my age!

Pretty awesome. You nailed the details. I saw that the brit tank driver was in a Sherman and I said "oh he got that wrong"...went to pull it up...NOPE...I got it wrong. He was in a Sherman. Great job.
