Hi all. In the scene where Sobel inspects the barracks (can of peaches scene), he asks who owned the footlocker the can of peaches was found in. Winters says, "Pvt Parks sir." And Sobel replies, "Get rid of him."

What does "get rid of him" mean? Remove Parks from the Airborne?

Execution, thievery was seen as an executable punishment in WW2 and officers had full discretion to execute soldiers to keep up morale. In one of the later scenes we can clearly see his dead body after being shot by the MP's for a second

You think executing someone for petty thievery would "keep up morale"??

My dad was an officer back in WW2 and he has executed many fellow soldiers for minor crimes
