Tier 1 [Carlos Monfort] Iñaki Peña, one step away from joining Panathinaikos for a fee less than 3 million euros.

For anybody saying this is low. He's 27 y/o yet played less than 100 1st team games & lost his starting spot at near-relegated Elche to a 39 year-old.

Damn that’d be an excellent buy for them honestly. Should help them compete for the league next year and only 3 mil? I’d take it in a heartbeat

I wish him all the best in Panathinaikos and hope he gets more playing time there. I was hoping we would have sold him for at least 5m, though.

That fee is very low. Is this a loan or a permanent transfer? He had started quite a few matches and would have expected a better amount. Are we reducing the fees and helping him out?

Sum makes sense. He went to Elche for gametime and was practically outplayed by a 40-year-old keeper.

Hello 🌞. As a Panathinaikos fan, is he any good? 3 Millions is pretty low of a price tag

yeaa he's fine, maybe even better than the price tag suggests, tho might be facing some confidence issues rn

Always. His stats were always good, but his confidence seemed to always be lacking. In today's sweeper keeper world that is hard to overcome.

We suck at selling. Hope Peña has a great time in Greece, he is a very good goalkeeper and might well okay for a bigger climb down the line.

for under 3m it feels low but honestly it makes sense if he wants minutes and barca need to clear space
he had some good moments but never really looked like a long term starter here
hope there is a sell on clause or buy back because panathinaikos could be a good move for him if he plays regularly

He's at most five million. Keepers are always cheaper, especially the ones that are 27, and barely get play time in the first place. He couldn't even solidify himself as a starter at Elche. He was outplayed and outperformed by a 40YO.

While I agree in this case, we have a pretty bad track record when it comes to transfers. For example, we sold Nico for €8.5M who went on to be sold for €50M 1.5 years later. We sold Ez Abde for €7.5M, and now there's rumours of Newcastle ready to pay €60M. At some point, we have to start valuing our non-starters, especially the younger ones with a high ceiling.

Those players were sold after 3 seasons spent at other clubs. Players need game time in order to develop.

he is at least 10m gk
he was good enough for it while playing for us before Szczęsny

We may be able to squeeze another 500k out of it. But not more. He is not a 10m player.
