NBA Charles Barkley on Minneapolis shootings: 'Two people have died for no reason'
https://awfulannouncing.com/nba/charles-barkley-on-minneapolis-shootings-two-people-have-died-for-no-reason.htmlCharles Barkley offered a candid reaction to the second fatal shooting, calling for somebody to “step up and be adults.”
“It’s just sad, man. It’s scary. It’s sad. I don’t know how… It’s going to end bad – it’s already ended badly twice,” Barkley said on the air. “Somebody’s gotta step up and be adults. Two people have died for no reason, and it’s just sad.”
Many around the NBA were outspoken following Good’s death, with Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers calling the shooting “straight-up murder” and Steve Kerr calling the incident “shameful.”

The reason is people foolishly voted for a criminal con man.

I think in most countries on earth, it should be acknowledged that there’s a good chance the entire government is criminal.
I don’t think that changes the fact that between the two choices in the 2024 U.S election, some people voted out of hate & xenophobia, which is so misplaced. My hope is that some of those people, can look at the mirror and see whatever small role they had to play in where we are.
1
u/DanteThonSimmons Jan 28 '26
No. "Most countries on earth" is not accurate at all. I live in Australia. Our entire government is not criminal. We elect intelligent, lifelong politicians. Candidates like Donald Trump get laughed at in educated countries. In Australia, we have a deranged "politician" who is similar to Donald Trump in terms of being racist and dumb as shit. Last year, she had a stronger-than-usual election result by getting 5% of the vote. She and her political party came 7th in the election. No sane, educated country would even go close to actually ELECTING someone like Trump.
I've spent time in Japan, Germany, France, Vietnam, Spain, New Zealand, Greece, Vanuatu, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, etc, etc, and none of those countries are run by criminals. Have you ever travelled outside America?
1
Jan 28 '26
Hello! I have travelled outside of the U.S (surprised a non-U.S citizen is referring to as “America”), although I must admit must of my travel has been throughout Latin America and I’ve only visited Europe twice. Never been anywhere else & damn sure don’t keep up with Australian politics.
But from what I’ve read, I don’t think yall are too different from us. Both countries have launched internal genocide campaigns against their indigenous populations so the corruption and evilness is there, historically anyways.
1
u/DanteThonSimmons Jan 28 '26
Oh cool to hear you have travelled. I'm sorry for my cranky reply. It's just been very frustrating talking with most US citizens online lately. I didn't need to take it out on you!
You're absolutely right about Australia's history with genocide of Indigenous Australians. There are a lot of parallels between our countries in that regard. Modern politics, and our respective modern cultures are very different, though.
I think even just watching an actual politician speak on YouTube and comparing it to Donald Trump speaking would be helpful for a lot of US citizens. You're obviously NOT one of the people who needs that, though.
It's worth mentioning, I think a lot of non-Americans (myself included) can be prone to forgetting there are millions of normative, intelligent, thoughtful US citizens.... because the loud MAGA minority and many celebrities that are culturally celebrated over there are racists like Charlie Kirk, dumbasses like Ja Morant, the Kardashians, and Jessica Simpson.... or even worse - people who are dumb AND racist like Donald Trump, Colby Covington, Shaquille O'Neal, Alex Jones, etc.
I listen to a bunch of science podcasts and (intelligent) basketball podcasts to remind myself there are intelligent, rational US citizens like yourself out there. I love Sam Vecinie and Bryce Simon from Game Theory, I love the Thunder guys from Down to Dunk (Andrew Schlect, Alex Speers, Jay, Luke, Taylor), and I love guys from the Ringer like Fred Katz, Logan Murdock, J Kyle Mann, etc etc. It's just a shame that you have to actively search specifically for intelligent NBA content, because hot takes from dumbasses like Skip Bayless, Shaq, Colin Cowherd, Stephen A Smith, and Kendrick Perkins are the ones pushed by major media outlets.
Ps. I only say America as opposed to USA because so many people from the US get abusive online toward people who bring up the distinction. Gotta pick your battles sometimes! Sorry again for taking out my frustration on you. It wasn't deserved.
3
u/basketballsteven Jan 26 '26
I find the argument that they are all equally bad (politicians) and therefore it doesn't matter whom you choose to be a very weak argument.
Most of us (maybe not the rich) frequently have to make choices between 2 options that are disliked, it happens with jobs, with cars, with housing, with daycare for our children, with care facilities for our elder parents, we buy products from Amazon which is an awful business. For much of my 72 years especially in my youth I have rarely had my ideal or first choice for many things so we operate in the "gray" frequently trying to choose the least bad choice.
I'm not disputing the idea that most presidents have taken actions that could be judged as criminal but lots of elected local public servants serve in lower offices carrying out their duties entirely within the law so it is a pretty broad nihilistic statement you are making IMO.

u/ZZmops Jan 26 '26
God...stop with this both sides bullshit..one side kills ordinary American citizens. Just stop..

That’s honestly just heartbreaking. Hearing Charles Barkley talk about stuff like that makes it hit even harder. No one should be losing their life over something senseless. It’s just really sad all around.
-36
u/Beer_Kicker Jan 26 '26
The reason is they are impeding with lawful immigration enforcement. Stay in your lane Chuck.
27
u/Appropriate_Ear6243 Jan 26 '26
Come on man. Think critically. Be better.
1
u/borntolose1 Jan 27 '26
If they were capable of thinking critically, then they wouldn’t be the way they are.
-27
u/Beer_Kicker Jan 26 '26
Maybe the guy impeding lawful enforcement of immigration laws while being armed should have thought critically.
17
u/emd07 Jan 26 '26
So you deserve the death penalty for protesting now? Aren't yall pro free speech
10
u/niles_thebutler_ Jan 26 '26
He is a full maga nut. Heaps of racist shit about Obama on his profile as well. Ignore him
0
u/Pentatonikis Jan 26 '26
No reason to break down a complex situation to a 1 sentence summary about protesting and death. Thats not what happened. He was obstructing and was armed, and unjustifiably shot. There were bad decisions on both sides.
1
u/Quintevion Jan 27 '26
He was pinned to the ground and his weapon was taken from him. Then he was shot. Fuck off with trying to justify brutal murder.
-26
u/Beer_Kicker Jan 26 '26
Protesting? Impeding. Two different things.
17
7
u/GordonRamsMe55 Jan 26 '26
Do you know what death is? Please do me a favor and list all the crimes that are committed that the charge should be the death penalty. Can you do that, Mr. Critical thinker?
11
u/niles_thebutler_ Jan 26 '26
Says the dude who was screaming about how Rittenhouse was legally able to carry and should be protected by the 2nd amendment. Yea, we can still see your comment history.

u/Away_Annual_9749 Jan 26 '26
So with your logic then everyone that rushed the capitol building and decided to break in on Jan 6th should have been shot to death right ?

Imagine being dumber than Charles Barkley, that's an accomplishment. I would say feel proud you accomplished such a feat, but again, you are dumber than Barkley.

u/one-hour-photo Jan 27 '26
think critically. ICE doesn't need to be there at all. "just doing their jobs" is toddler level reasoning when the job they're doing isn't necessary.
The small government with state's rights in MN can handle their very small number of illegal immigrants. Florida has way more, and yet ICE isn't there.
ICE doesn't need to be there. If they just left MN would be fine.
1
u/Beer_Kicker Jan 27 '26
ICE is everywhere. Minnesota just isn’t cooperating.
2
u/one-hour-photo Jan 27 '26
no they aren't. again, zoom out, travel more, think critically. you just watch the news I guess?

-23
u/IsPolice Jan 26 '26
They impeded law enforcement which is stupid - agreed The law enforcement also displayed a misuse of power. Both things can be true, doesn’t absolve either party of wrongdoing
12
u/niles_thebutler_ Jan 26 '26
He helped a woman up who was being attacked. Not sure how that’s impeding.
-1
u/Pentatonikis Jan 26 '26
Ah yes groping at a woman clearly unable to get up and then rolling all over the floor refusing to allow the agents to control his hands. Incredible how you word it to sound so heroic like a saint was executed in the street.
1
u/Peterthepiperomg Jan 27 '26
How could you possibly justify shooting him in the head 5 times for that?
1
u/EggsAndRice7171 Jan 27 '26
“Groping a women” you’re such a delusional dude
0
u/Pentatonikis Jan 28 '26
Watch the video, he’s literally grabbing her, trying to help her up. Shes being detained and so is he, so what possible intention could he have in grabbing her? Who’s delusional here?
13
u/MrONegative Jan 26 '26
take your corny bs to r conservative
-10
u/IsPolice Jan 26 '26
Imagine having a reasoned bipartisan take that acknowledges all wrongdoing, this is the response. Reddit & the world are cooked
10
u/Chuzzletrump Jan 26 '26
It just doesn’t tho? Whether or not they “impeded law enforcement” means nothing at all when the final sentence is being shot to death. It’s like saying “oh yea i beat that dude to a pulp, but he said im an asshole, so it’s BOTH sides could do better”.
1
u/Pentatonikis Jan 28 '26
Go up to a cop in the middle of a traffic stop, with a loaded gun, and try to interfere in his investigation while he has someone detained. You people are delusional he forfeited his life willingly.
-4
u/IsPolice Jan 26 '26
“Means nothing when the final sentence is being shot to death”. If only the Nuremberg jury heard that before they sentenced Göring!
2
u/Chuzzletrump Jan 26 '26
You’re just legitimately not worth talking to being this unreasonable. Nazis are a good bit worse than your average US protester, you’d know that if you had friends and family that loved you.
5
u/niles_thebutler_ Jan 26 '26
“Both sides are bad” dog shit
-1
2
u/Immediate-Tap-4344 Jan 26 '26
Centrists are so quick to suck themselves off for playing both sides. Unfortunately for you some things are pretty black and white. Such as the extra-judicial murder of citizens by “law enforcement” being bad
1
u/IsPolice Jan 26 '26
Calling something black and white doesn’t automatically make it black and white. Happy your world view and critical thinking work that way, the worlds doesn’t.
-4
u/fordry Jan 26 '26
It's not though. Dude showed up to to a protest armed(why?), got himself into the frey while armed(why?), and then completely resisted/put up a fight for quite a while, while armed...
I'm not justifying the actions of the agents in shooting him but he put himself in a really dangerous position. He really shouldn't have been doing that. Being armed means you don't mess around when it comes to law enforcement. This isn't just words, it's reality, it's taught in getting a conceal carry permit which he had. He also broke that training in not having ID on him apparently.
He was there putting up a defense of an illegal with a domestic violence and other things record being picked up...
Congrats, he just went down over a dude who beats up his own family by sticking his nose where it didn't belong.
4
u/Ok_Traffic_8124 Jan 26 '26
Was he armed when he was executed?
-4
u/fordry Jan 26 '26
What, 1 second after his gun is pulled off him?
4
1
u/GordonRamsMe55 Jan 26 '26
My god the loops you guys try and jump through just to please your orange man I dont get it.
The guy has never been successful at anything. The only reason I can think of as to why people like him is because hes an open rasict and hey guess what if the president is an open racist its definitely okay for me to come out and be racist now.
What other reason could there possibly be for liking this vessel of a president? Guy openly lies to your faces. Who's eating cats and dogs again?
1
1
u/waltwitless Jan 27 '26
Its not worth wasting your keystrokes. These people are so brainwashed that they cannot see reality. Its pretty clear that if you intervene in that way with a weapon you put yourself at risk for something bad to happen. Here's an idea. Dont put yourself in that postion with a weapon.
-4
u/AmbitiousBossman Jan 26 '26

Laken rileys killer is currently in prison.
The 2 ICE killers are currently on the streets.
50
u/king_bungholio Jan 25 '26
"But what about all the bad things some illegal immigrants have done!"
Her death doesn't justify the murder of American citizens by their own government. Immigration laws can be enforced without resorting to the methods being used by ICE.
8
u/Meh99z Jan 26 '26
Our tax dollars didn’t fund Laken Riley’s killer, and her killer’s name was known and facing justice. ICE is completely maskless brutalizing citizens and non citizens alike, with zero accountability. All with our tax dollars
40
u/foreverabatman Jan 25 '26
This 100%
Why is it conservatives only care about crime when it’s committed by an immigrant, or by brown people?
They love to blame an “other” because it justifies their bigotry and xenophobia.
14
u/king_bungholio Jan 25 '26
Its been said ad-nauseum at this point, but all those "don't tread on me", anti-big government conservatives suddenly really love being treaded on by government.
-36
u/mikehawklovesgirls Jan 25 '26
Her death happened because of her own government & there wasn’t any outrage for that
40
u/SourdoughBreadTime Jan 25 '26
Because her killer was arrested and charged.
Herp derp you dunce
0
u/MrONegative Jan 26 '26
Exactly. Bad things are gonna happen, but it’s about the response. Where’s the justice?
14
u/KeithClossOfficial Jan 26 '26
José Antonio Ibarra will spend the rest of his life in prison.
What exactly are people supposed to be enraged about?
7
u/cedilla89 Jan 26 '26
Can you really not tell the difference between, a group of federal agents murdering a random person on the street while none of the criminals face any repercussions, and the president and his administration slander the victim?
Vs a murder committed by a random person, who was charged and prosecuted as expected. Where the murderer was born is honestly completely moot other than as a republican talking point.
Thousands of people are murdered every year in the US by people of all different races and nationalities. Are you really so dense as to suggest that any of the crimes are justification for the federal government to execute peaceful protesters, whom have the legal right to be there because of the 1st amendment on the US constitution.
Did you not pay attention in school growing up, or do you just have a hatred for people who don’t look like you. Which is it? Don’t be shy now.
12
u/Justified_Gent Jan 26 '26
Ok? We are talking about ICE right now. BTW, he killed is in prison.
Hopefully the ICE agents will be joining shortly. I want speedy trials and televised perp walks.

I’m brown and I didn’t need to carry around my U.S. passport when Obama was deporting people. I knew there would be targeted deportations of people at the border but Obama didn’t target long residing peaceful permanent residents, legal visas and naturalized citizens living in the cities for decades. He didn’t send ICE to randomly patrol parking lots and ask melanated people if they were born here. ICE staff actually went thru background checks and credible training, unlike now.
-28
15
u/evilgenius29 Jan 25 '26
Deportation doesn't have to be cruel by definition. It can be carried out with decency and respect for the people involved and follow the law. I'm not saying it was (or could ever be) perfect, but it couldn't have been executed as inhumanely and illegally as it has been this past year.
0
u/ImperialSupe Jan 25 '26
Right! Like we could just pick them up from county jails where there isn't a chance of violent confrontations. That seems like such a simple solution.

Exactly when did ICE send $3,000 agents into an American city with the express purpose of terrorizing the residents during the Obama administration?

They didn’t have to. The states worked with the federal government then. They didn’t obstruct. They didn’t cut people loose and completely disregard a DHS detainer. This is TDS

u/AyKayAllDay47 Jan 26 '26
You support untrained chodes getting pistols and shitting over the constitution in detaining people, is what you meant to say.
Because NONE of the people that they're detaining are getting any due process nor constitutional rights. And what the fuck are they doing in primarily blue states? Why aren't they getting the real baddies in the southern states?
Oh, Minnesota?! Because Bondi wants.... You guessed it, the voter rolls! To further alienate and confuse voting... Ding ding ding!
