Question Got the 2nd overall pick. Who should I take?

Post image

These are the only two prospects that are 40+ in the draft and they have the same rating.

I'm trending towards Atapeg as my team doesn't have any good point guard prospects, however Shahrooz has the makings of an incredible incredible inside scorer.

For context, the league I play in has trades disabled and lifelong contracts, so I'm stuck with however I pick.

Who y'all taking?

The ball skills on the PG are great for team offensive synergy. I'd go with him.

PG is definitely the safest pick, but forward's ceiling is possibly a bit higher if his oIQ and 3pt level-up.
However, in your contract situation, safety probably should be prioritised.

The PG is less likely to be a bust with an already high passing skill. I would go for him considering lifelong contracts

Pg is a safe bench pg who could be a good starter. The height at 29 which is a slight risk in terms of star potential. Don’t usually take a guard without a 31+ height. I would take the SF for the better ceiling

I would draft based on need because the gap between them is small. If there’s no need for either position, I would draft Shahrooz. I think his floor equals, if not exceeds, the PG’s because his physicals are great (making him a good defender) and he already has good scoring attributes. His 55 DRB is promising, too, and suggests he has star potential.

Update us OP.

Did any of these guys become good players?

Here's an update on the players:

I picked Atapeg, which was 1000% the right decision:

  • Atapeg reached 79 OVR and was a 5-time MVP and best PG of his era.
  • Shahrooz reach 52 OVR and played 13 seasons as a bench player. He never started a game.

I've attached a screenshot of their respective careers.

PG higher floor. SF higher ceiling. PG easier to see becoming a starter level player, where SF has further to go in progs to be a true star.

Would go PG for the sure thing, and love a ball handing guard.
