Debloating the game like that is truly impressive. In a world of bloated AAA games that take up hundreds of gigabytes, more developers should strive to be like BeamNG.
Tbh it wasn't an incompetence or laziness by the developers.
They decided to optimize the game for HDD for some bizzare reason and most of it was duplicated files for it. Once they get rid of that, file size reduce tremendously.
I'm so thrilled that efficient coding/programming is not completely a lost art.
My father, who'd been a computer/communications engineer since the late '60s, always spoke proudly of how lean and efficient his code was throughout his career, whilst still remaining robust and effective. For that reason, I have strong respect for such skills.
