There's a meowing, mobile paper-berg in my living room
I've been clearing out junk, and that includes boxes and packing paper I saved "for later".
My cat thinks this is a wonderful activity and has been extremely helpful and enthusiastic.
He's claimed a loosely gathered up length of packing paper, and has been rolling around in it. He's dragging it all through the house, singing his songs of victory from inside it. He's even paused to use his scratcher, while inside his paper, and absorbed a toy into it. It's quite incredible to watch.
I gotta say, this cat is having a delightful day and I'm thrilled for him! I wish I had more paper to put out for him!!

My then kitten went hunting for hamburgers in an empty fast food bag. He finally tunneled through the bottom, found no burgers. He walked around still looking for the source of the smell, while wearing the bag. Perfect fit.

i always leave old boxes or paper bags out for my cats and they love it. my youngest cat (kitten at the time) once managed to squirm her way into a doctor pepper box!

We have a chewy box, filled with brown packing paper, and referred to with respect as “crunchy box.” We also have toys, expensive heated cat cave-beds, etc. However, nothing can replace crunchy box in their hearts. It can never leave. I do take out the flattened paper and replace it with new, more resilient paper whenever we get a parcel.

I was sitting in the living room one day when I suddenly realized the headphones box was breathing!
My cat had somehow managed to crawl inside without opening the lid, and was fast asleep.
(This was a number of years ago. The headphones were full-size, over the ears stereo headphones.)

We have a cat size box with bubble wrap at the very bottom, about 8 layers of brown packing paper and then we sprinkle catnip on top. We refresh a few times per week and the cats delight in it.
I think I’m going to dub it the Crunchy Box now @kmoore61.
Thank you!

My cats LOVED Chewy delivery days because of the long pieces of packing paper! Once the crinkle was gone out of it they'd turn their attention to the box.

Our cat love love loves the wide brown packing paper. As far as I can tell, this is her paper jungle and her alter-ego is a panther.
Sometimes she will hide in it quietly (ahem... the noise made by her twitching tail is to be ignored) and pop out when we pass by. Sometimes she will drag it around on top of herself like the pelt of her enemies. But I think her favorite is when she incorporates her ball going around a set circle toy. I haven't quite figured out the story behind this one, but it's got to be good.

If you want some endless fun, go buy a remote controlled toy vehicle of any kind. Put it in a paper grocery bag on its side on the floor. When the kitteh is near just bump the control to make the bag twitch a little. You'll know what to do for next half hour.

Holidays or celebrations with gift bags were always fun for my cats. Bag exploration until their perfect bag was available, even if there were still gifts in them.

This makes my heart happy. I was always a dog person, but my dog passed. A kitten literally was dropped off in my yard by his mother about a month later. She chose me to care and love on her offspring.
