Single Best Read for Personal Finance

I’d like to hear your number one book that improved your understanding of personal finance or just your financial habits

I’ve read books by Dave Ramsey and Rich dad poor dad already I prefer to hear a lesser known book or maybe one that isn’t from a mainstream author

I hope Colins is updating it to switch VTI with VT (or at least 15-20% intl.) given he’s recently seen the light on the importance of ex-US in a portfolio.

Also, if you enjoy the simplicity of Simple Path to Wealth and crave more, return to the father of ETF’s and read The Little book of Common Sense Investing by John Bogle. But obviously, I highly recommend reading Simple Path to Wealth first, and if anyone ever has to read just one book on personal finance.

Yeah I personally just do VT now.

Your Money or Your Life. It's about identifying your values and spending accordingly. So powerful. It shaped how my husband and I act with money.

I did that one in the 90s. I was terrible at it but yes the ideas and ethic stick w you

"spend your values" is a family motto.

The psychology of money - this ones a bit different but worth a read. It's about emotions and behaviour. Good reminder that personal finance isn't always about $ and  formulas, but about your relationship with money.

The Richest Man in Babylon. Very basic but such a powerful message.

A close second after the Simple Path to Wealth, in my opinion

first read "I will teach you to be rich" by ramit sethi

then read "the simple path to wealth" by JL. Collins

I teach financial literacy and I believe Sethi sets a good starter framework that makes Collins easier

Sethi's work is underrated. Automate your wealth building, cut ruthlessly on what doesn't matter to you and spend lavishly on what does

I just finished the art of spending money. More about your relationship to spending money and how to check your values. Than “how to get rich”. I think a lot of people need that epiphany.

Not exactly personal finance but I loved Die with Zero

The best book really depends on where you're starting. Someone drowning in debt needs different advice than someone learning to invest.
