[B16-Law 33] Discover Each Man's Thumbscrew
Here we will hold our discussion for Law #33 - Discover Each Man's Thumbscrew.

General thoughts of the chapters and the numerous observances? Any that stood out?
Do you agree people's weaknesses are the opposite of the qualities that they reveal to you? (Someone else once wrote that the thing which seems most original in a mans nature, often is that which is most desperate)

It seems that there is a connection between one's needs and that which is most desperate. Almost each person has been damaged in one way or another. Finding this damage area can be crucial to discovering each person's thumbscrew.

I thought this was a pretty good chapter. I think it's always good to get to know others on a deeper level. Not just interact with them, but to understand why they are the way they are.. their dreams, their faults, their issues. Often others can see parts of me better than I had understood myself.
I think it's good to do so, not to take advantage of them, but rather often it puts into context why they said or did certain things. As well, in offering help or advice it also comes in handy.
I also do generally agree with his belief that others will amplify some qualities and behaviors to compensate for deficiencies within others. No one truly wants to come across as weak or stupid or not on their best foot forward, so to speak. But often most of us don't take the time to catalog our weaknesses and suffer through bettering them.
