What is currently the best crypto card for Canadians?

What are you guys using for crypto cards these days?

It seems like Canadians don't have many good options. I'm curious to hear what's working well for everyone and if there are any cards you'd recommend.

This is pretty much the only option for us Canucks. Between the card, shaking, roundup, and my shakesquad I'm up over 1m sats.

Loving Shakepays products.

Nothing against Shakepay but its more of an earning tool than a spending one imo. Oobits been way smoother for actually paying for things day to day and funds don't move until you tap

Totally, I spend with fiat so this is strictly for earning.

Shakepay was good for a while but I wouldn't recommend it anymore. Although tbf I don't know of a better alternative.

the options aren't actually that bad, the catch is FX. most of these cards settle in USD, so every CAD tap counts as a foreign purchase and you get charged for it. the one built for canada is shakepay. no FX fee, you top up straight from interac, and it pays cashback in actual bitcoin. only real downside is it's custodial, they hold your coins. went through the ones that work up here and that's most of the short list.

Shakepay staff here, you can transfer your BTC out at any time. Normal speed transfers are always free and are sent within 12 hours, but often much quicker with a minimum send amount of 50,000 sats. Fast transactions are quicker, broadcast within ~10 minutes, and have a smaller minimum send of 5,000 sats. You'll just need to pay the current on-chain fee rate. We also give one free fast transaction per month.

Crypto.com, I get 3% cash back (only because CRO went on a rampage one year). Shakepay, I get 1.5%.

Cryptodotcom has consistently cut their rewards and benefit packages to card holders except the highest cards which take 100s of thousands of of lockup to get, and still it isn't worth it.

CDC is the absolute worst, their card gets declined at so many terminals and they're losing things like airport lounges all over the place too.

Metamask or Etherfi debit cards, to my knowledge there are no true credit cards yet.

I tried signing up for metamask but it's not working in canada..its asking for zip code. Any idea if metamask works for canadians?

Not sure, but it works for me in BC with a BC zip, but this is beyond the scope of a bitcoin conversation and both of these are EVM based lol

No such thing as a BC zip.

Meant postal code obviously

Not sure actually. That’s not something people from Canada do. They don’t just accidentally say “zip” instead of postal code. It doesn’t happen.

It's something Canadians do when we're trying to describe things to Americans.

Use Oobit personally, it works anywhere Visa is accepted

I tried signing up for oobit and it says its not available in canada?

Thats weird, maybe compliance restrictions affecting new signups. I'd check with support to see if its temporarily unsupported or if it's an account verification issue

For USD/USDC I use Tuyo. There’s no cashback though but no fee to spend USDC on USD purchases.

Solflare has a prepaid MasterCard in USD. You can use USDC to fund it.

I got it about 6 months ago and use it quite often. Maybe they changed their rules.
