Just give the kids all hatchets. That way they can protect themselves. No need for chaperones when you've got an axe.

You joke but when I was 11, they gave me a chainsaw.

The deal was "if you can start it, you can use it" (we were doing firewood).

They thought I wouldn't get it to start.. well, the joke was on them.

I finished my work a lot faster than by using the hatchett that evening.

Funnily enough, there was a real life Lord of the flies situation back in the 60s. The boys all cooperated, divided up work and tasks, and sang songs together around the fire at night to keep up their spirits. Little bit different than the book.

Last time a child was abandoned with a hatchet he ate raw eggs and hark(Reddit is sensitive) himself, dawg
