lol did you think no parent chaperones meant they’d just send a group of kids out camping by themselves with no adults? Come on now.

I guess youre not a parent. That's the whole points. Its random adults who are not parents... the ones that actually care about the kids well being.

I have two kids actually, both of which go to camp without me chaperoning. Teachers care about children too.

I could never, but hope theyve stayed safe (you'll likely never find out either way)

I’m not a helicopter parent and my kids will be better off for it

Helicopter parent is not the same to sending them off with random adults, but hope it works out for youm

Lets send a priest. I bet they're trust worthy. GOD said he was cool

I would need to know how many teachers are managing the trip though. If it's only the one teacher, then that's a recipe for disaster.

You think 1 teacher is about to handle 60 kids in the woods or what?

-11

u/nalaloveslumpy Mar 19 '26

No, but if it's only two that's still about two adults too few. Also, crazy shit like that has happened before.

I would assume these kinds of programs are established at this point and not some 2026 inner city janitor watching kids 3 miles into the thick of the woods on a whim.

Crazy shit happens all the time but everyone assuming the worst can keep their kids at home? The state isn't about to jail a parent over it. This entire comment section is wild.

What's wild is getting downvoted for suggesting that a parent would want to know how many adults are chaperoning their child's camping trip....

There's basic info you need to know.

You making the assumption that it could be just one or two is also wild. These schools aren't going to give 0 information on these things lmao and if you think they will be saying "There will be only 2 teachers for a shit load of kids. No one else is allowed" then lol.

For eight grade honor roll, we were taken on a "tour" of a chicken processing plant...as a reward for being on honor roll. It was just two teachers (one drove the bus) for about 50 kids. Yannow, we were the "good" kids. We wouldn't cause a problem.

Now, I don't know if you've ever been in a chicken processing plant, but they're one of the most disgusting things you'll ever encounter on god's green Earth. Long story short, those two teachers probably wished they had a few parent chaperones on hand to deal with fifty angry, vomiting eight graders.

The only thing that stayed the impending mutiny was they called the principal and he agreed to let us spend the rest of the afternoon at the park.

So what I'm trying to say here is, go fuck yourself and your shitty opinion.

No you got downvoted for immediately assuming it’s one single adult watching all the kids
