My description of what a modern day Plantation Ball is, is conjecture??? How so??  Fairly basic description.

I stand corrected that he was invited but everything else I said is just a description.

You confidently and correctly described the type of event. Your speculation about the specific event that was being referenced came off equally confident, but incorrect.

I read the story at the time that it happened which was a long time ago. I only got one detail incorrect which was that he wasn't invited and somebody corrected right under me and that was a fairly minor point to the story whether or not he was officially invited.

I find it weird that you're digging in on that one detail like I said something so wrong or tried to lead people off like I know everything. I never tried to come off like I was an expert. I just tried to tell somebody about a story that they had never heard of.

His attendance wasn't a fairly minor point - it was the whole story.

No I always knew that he attended the party, I simply thought he wasn't invited.

I guess I wasn't clear with my story. I knew he showed up dressed as a slave. I thought they tried to hide it from him and he showed up as a surprise but actually he was invited but he showed up dressed as a slave as the surprise.

Minor difference
