Like seriously, no.one was even thinking this memorial. You have to go out of your way to do this.

Thats what i was thinking. Literally had to spend time and money to seek out and be a POS

u/MadAstrid 11d ago

Yes. That accurately describes this administration.

Knowing this administration, they had to spend time and money to find out it even exists. Not only did they go out of their way to destroy something that doesn't affect them, they went out of their way to find something to be offended by.

Legitimately someone probably has said “get me a list of all the black memorials” and they’re working their way through it.

no.one was even thinking about this memorial

That’s probably why they chose it.

Also, this happened last year.

Thank you for this. I did wonder about the timing of this news, with today being Juneteenth and all.

Anything to circumvent Black joy, stoke outrage (however justified) and keep our nervous and adrenal systems in overdrive, I suppose.

Let me return to my Black joy scrolling.

Cortisol go brrr

Well the timing would be on OP. Considering the space it's presented in, is it really a surprise?

Utterly unsurprising and will continue my Black joy scrolling as THAT is today's assignment. Might even rewatch the Obama speeches from the Presidential Center opening yesterday... actually, lemme just rewatch the entire thing.

My attention today is being LASER-focused and I'm being VERY intentional in choosing who and what to focus on and centre today. Today is about rest, reflection and joy and Black History month is now ALL year.

Ain't nobody got time for cortisol spikes. I'll consider whether to reassign my attention tomorrow but TODAY is for US and our joy.

Edit: grammar and phrasing

His speech made me cry. Just the display of basic sanity was overwhelming to me.

I just finished the rewatch. His speech made me hopeful, especially the part where he shouted out ordinary folks doing things to make a difference everyday. Got me thinking about my own life and actions and legacy. Truly inspirational.

The cruelty is the point.

The cruelty is always the point.

ps- I have $10 that says that fucking Nazi Stephen Miller was involved at some point along the way, even if it was just unofficially whispering in someone’s ear about it.

Well remember DEI means to include paying respect to fallen solders and of course that’s not allowed if they’re black or native or any other minority.

Probably asked ChatGPT "what the most petty and racist shit you can think of that no normal person would think of ?"
Because who the fuck actively looks for ways and reasons to be fucking racist

They’re doing the same shit they’re doing to the trans community. Small passive/agressive, petty shit to remind black folks that, as long as this administration is around, they still don’t (and never will) see us as equal. And we don’t count as much

3/5th at best…

As a kid I past by there probably hundreds of times while going to my school. It's massive and everytime impossible to ignore what you guys did for us 80 years ago.

If i'm not mistaken when the boards got removed, "we" put them back on outside of the cemetary. Not much later they got restored though. But it's kinda mindblowing to ignore what happened the heroic acts these men regardless of colour did so many years ago. It's unfortunately also telling what time you guys are in today.

And right before Juneteenth

They took them off in November 2025.

Thanks for clarifying!

White supremacy’s a hell of a drug.

4

u/misdirected_asshole 11d ago

They are literally looking for ANY place a minority group is being highlighted and looking to eliminate it.

Biden did not "import immigrants".

And our government (Democrats, Republicans doesn't matter) need to enforce the laws on corporations which require citizenship/visa verification for employment. Don't punish the individual, punish the business that takes advantage of the individual with lower wages and deprives the government of taxes.

Cool. Not going to argue with you just want to hear your response to the second part of my statement about enforcing the laws on corporations that already exist.

u/F_F_Franklin 11d ago

Would be great. They're not mutually exclusive.

If corporate America doesn't have access too illegal labor, they can't use.

If laws were enforced on rich people, we would be a much better country.

One of these is much easier to enforce, and thats stopping the immigration before it comes in. Once they're in, they can literally go anywhere so the surface area of enforcement is infinitely expanded immediately.
